+JATT6976 they did somehow bring it up a little bit, by introducing that dr. dre was doing some stuff with this new guy snoop dogg... but still it would make it hard to understand why dr. dre would sit just next to E´s bed right before he died when he just made a track about how wack dr. dre is. The movie was already 2 hours +. So they had to cut it out.
@KittyNakafima
@KittyNakafima 8 жыл бұрын
+iiFUR10US That's because that is not the light they wanted to shine on the movie. I've seen it 3 times (it was that dope) and i grew up in the time of NWA. Yeah, many people feel like the Dre/Eazy beef shoulda been more explored in the movie, but Dre, Cube and Gary all felt like that would take away from the image they are trying to portray with this movie. We all know what happen, and that's cool, they know this, but for the new fans or people who didn't even listen to NWA or wasn't born in that timezone when they came out, they wanted them to see NWA and their struggles as a group; the important parts. They also didn't talk about the album they made when Cube first left the group, or the fact that Dre had 2 brothers who were killed, not just the one. Alot was left out, yes, but the movie still made its point.

Cube is such a huge inspiration man! "Do what you wanna do, don't care if you get radio play or not and stay creative. Dont try to be the next NWA or Cube or Dre, stay true to yourself". People like, for example my parents, think rappers are always those aggressive people talking about killing one another. I think im the only one in my family who's really into hip hop, which is ashame actually.

same here, I don’t know anything about the life but I enjoyed the movie. This movie is a must watch for people for tolerant white people who want to see a rebellion against oppression. When I heard straight outta Compton for the first time when I was 9, I thought it was bad because my grandpa was a cop. Knowing what a rebellion is now at 17, I definitely think that this made everybody during the time think about joining in a movement. Black power is a movement, BLM is a movement. If I had never seen this movie or 42 growing up, I would’ve been the ignorant white cop that was searching cube for dope. I love my grandpa, and he was oppressive too, but he was actually the one to tell me that he doesn’t see it as authority, he sees it as protection. No power, oppression, or profiling, he just wanted to keep his grandkids that lives four houses down on a road near the city safe. He was never the ignorant cop, just the one fortunate enough to know the difference and to look out for who’s really responsible. He died in 2018, and I learned a lot about him after he died. Including that he saved a black man from a burning car when his other officers were secure a perimeter. He hated the other officers but he did what was right. I respect the director and I love this movie. If someone says I can’t like this movie, I’m gonna tell them everyone can. Rebellion is good. Good is out there. Be good. Love y’all.

It's a decent movie, not perfect but it's good. Everyone listening to 90s gangsta rap will love it. Ice Cube's son is 99% Ice Cube in the movie it's crazy, and funny as well
@AGEE_95
@AGEE_95 8 жыл бұрын
There were a lot of people, myself included, that don't listen to much gangsta rap, who loved it. Consider that and history lesson for us. It drew in a very large white audience as well. A merely decent movie to me is something like Notorious. IMO no movie is ever 100% perfect, nor can it be, but this one, I thought, was one of the best music biopics, and arguably one if the best biopics in general, ever made. Even better than one of my personal favorites, Ray and What's Love Got to Do With It. It was a major box office hit, even beating out Walk the Line. It's the kind of movie that I think will go down in history. It's shows a lot more than just the music, which isn't too common in most music biopics.
@Alex_1729
@Alex_1729 8 жыл бұрын
Bex G I wouldn't go that far to call it one of the best music biopics, taking into account that Eazy wasn't there to work on the film to see it form his perspective as well. Right there we're missing a whole 1/3 of the movie, one whole perspective. Not having one person who is integral part of the main story is a big defect. Nevertheless, the movie still can be great without one main person. The movie kind of glorifies Dre too much in my opinion, and although he is a visionary, it was a bit too much. Don't get me wrong, I'm a huge Dre fan and wish him all the best, but it was not skeptical regarding Dre character. Overall the movie tries to cram too much into itself which hurts the general feel and harmony, although it's not terrible and serves the purpose, it still has negative effects. Acting wasn't the best either, but it was pretty good. Writing is poor. But I liked it. It was...good.
@AGEE_95
@AGEE_95 8 жыл бұрын
+Micic00 oh I disagree entirely. I thought they (mainly Jason) did a very good job giving Eazy's perspective. Although the movie has it's slight biases and omissions , I think I does an excellent job focusing on the rise, fall, and impact of NWA as a whole. It also does a good job with the subject of police brutality and the effect that NWA had on that coming to light. I think it really shows the brotherly bond between the group and how the money disagreements had an effect on that. I loved the cinematography. The second half IMO wasn't as good as the first, but it didn't fall off too much for me. It just felt slightly gappy in the second hour. As far as the acting goes, I thought that for the most part it was great. Jason did a phenomenal job not just as Eazy but in general his acting just came off so natural and effortless IMO. Corey was good, I though O'Shea was adequate. He sold me as his father, but his technical acting skills weren't great. Paul was amazing too. Just my opinion.
@Alex_1729
@Alex_1729 8 жыл бұрын
Bex G Compared to general Hollywood garbage they keep producing this is pretty good. It's hard to tell what is Eazy's perspective when he's not around to express it. We can say we've heard him and read his words but it's still an assumption and you can't honestly claim you know if they did or did not portray his perspective in a good way and view on the whole situation. I do like the police brutality part, it's always an important reminder and the "fuck the police" that came afterwards really made it great. As far as acting goes I have my standards :P I honestly think it's sub-par, especially the guy doing Dre (forgot his name). The other two were good. Supporting cast was ok. Your opinion, my opinion. We're here to talk, not necessarily to agree :D
@AGEE_95
@AGEE_95 8 жыл бұрын
Micic00 absolutely! It's just about personally preference. It depends on what you like. I was always OK with disagreeing. I don't know your standards, but mine are pretty simple. For me to think the acting is good, it just has to feel natural, not over the top, but still make me feel something. I thought Corey Hawkins who plays Dre gave a better performance than O'Shea, but to me Jason Mitchell gave the best performance, aside from Paul who's like veteran, so his great acting didn't surprise me. Jason blew me away though. I thought it was definitely an Oscar-worthy performance. As far as getting Eazy's perspective down, obvious it wouldn't be exactly correct cause he's not here. But I think they did the best they could with what they had to get his perspective down, like Jason talking to the people closest to Eazy.

this video is so inspiring, because I'm an aspiring actress and I've been stressing for a while wonder how I'm going to fulfill my goals. the thought of not doing so scares me so much and I know that I just need so much help..

I grew up listening to NWA, but I never knew what NWA was going through. Ice Cube is inspiring and very talented; he was my favorite one. Ice Cube's son deserves an Oscar; to me; he stole the show.

I like the fact that Cube mentioned "war on black youths", because every young black male is not and was not a gangbanger at that time. As the movie portrays it Cube grew up in a two parent home. And from looking at documentaries on Eazy-E, his mother and father were still together after his death.

True story... I found a backpack in front of my house in Souf, Jersey... It was the "Straight Outta Compton" cassette and they dubbed Steady B's "Let The Hustlers Play" on top of it... That was my best intro to both styles of hip-hop, besides my sister playin' Fat Boys and New Edition and "I Need Love" and "You Talk Too Much"... Anyway... "I Ain't the One" was my favorite shit, then "Dope Man"... Because the way the dub went, they dubbed over half of "I Ain't the One", so all I heard was "...see they think we narrow minded, cuz they got a cute face and big behinded..." So, that always sticks out, so to speak..Truly changed my life havin' that cassette tape...I mean, and you know what, you can be from anywhere, as long as you gotta mind that thinks beyond... Man, I love my public school for the teachers that I had... Not all of em... Life can't have all gems, you gotta sprinkle dem shits out... You gotta alternate... See, cuz, when you twist ya wrist, you gotta have the jewels cascade a certain way, everything gotta yin & yang.
