Straight Piped IH 1066 And Woods B315 Mowing Last Time Before Winter.

We've got the IH 1066 hooked up to the Woods B315 brush mower and we are mowing down what would have been our 2021 second cut hay. It's unfortunate that the weather was against us the whole summer, so much so that the second cutting wasn't even worth burning the diesel to bale. On the plus side, mowing late in the season like this always seems to help the following years' first cutting be nice and weed free. We don't spray any herbicides on our hay and we really don't want to start now.

I wouldn't mind putting a 2-post canopy on, but dang it they are expensive!

I spent many long hours on 10 14 and 1566 tractors. The "black stripe" models were my favorite. Something about the sound of those big IH engines with a pipe. Sweetest sounding one I ever drove was black stripe 1566 . Has 20 inch radials with duals. Wasn't really fond of the three speed trans. Seemed like it was missing a gear or something. Pulled a 28 ft IH 490 harrow with 400 gallons of chemical in saddle tanks. It always started hot or cold. It was turned up a bit to about 180 hp.

You could do some land clearing tomorrow soon as possible will produce more hey

Pretty much every bit of land that we own that isn't wet year round or too steep to farm is being used. I would like to do some clearing and open up the fields that we do have. But more importantly we are wanting to produce more out of what we do have and we are always trying to make better quality hay than we did the year before. Some fields on the farm like the one in the thumbnail have spots where top soil is practically non existent, so we are trying to build that up with organic material as well. Thanks for watching!

Amazing how many farmers doing videos just start the tractors without checking motor oil, hydraulic oil and coolant level. 😖

How many hp is that. I got too got of a deal on a similar batwing woods 15 foot from my neighbor. I run it with a jd 4720 66hp. The kids always say they will bale but then don't and I chop 4 foot weeds

The 1066 IH is roughly 130 hp give or take. I have used this mower on my 706 IH which is 67 hp and it does alright until you get in very thick grass. Just have to take it slow and it will eat through it.
