Stretching skin is fundamental when I use the straight razor. The way I shave my customer 's beard, firstly, I give massage with applying beard gel which get them softer. Secondly, wrapping beard parts with a hot steaming towel. And then, lathering with warm shaving brush only half side. Never forget to check which direction each beard grows because it should be no two are alike the same as a fingerprint. First shaving is going with the grain. Second shaving is against the grain not to come blood out. Next, another side is applied a steaming towel again. And shave the same way. Believe or not, most of my customers usually fall in sleep during getting my shave. The best moment is when I hear the sound of their snore. I think myself they trust me although I'm using such a dangerous tool 😊 I really love my job so I respect Geo that he can shave with using both hands. Unbelievable ‼️

Hi, Geo. I'm wondering if you want to try using other blade which I recommended you before, I will send it to you. I know you have some straight razors by Feather company. The blade my recommendation is not Feather's one but it's a superb combination of the two stuff. Believe me, I shave that way for my customers every day. Would you show me where to send it to you?

I agree with Owen. Skip shavettes until you have the basic skills and muscle memories. Just my unpleasant personal experiences...
@dannybeeson50844 жыл бұрын
A shavette works the same way a straight does but I've found are less forgiving. Mainly because the design requires you to operate it at a higher angle to the skin than a traditional straight razor does. I save my Feather Artist Club for travel where carrying around a strop isn't as practical. I would invest in a decent straight and perfect your technique with it before going back to using a shavette again. It takes a little more time because of the stropping process but I think the additional 5 minutes is well worth it,
@alexanderm.95664 жыл бұрын
@@dannybeeson5084 Very well said, thanks for the explanation Edit: And the exposed sharp corners blade on shavettes can easily nick you in tricky areas.

It's not the price for me. It's the maintenance part. The stones are more expensive than the razor itself, plus the strops and oils and pastes. It's a great hobby for those who know what they're doing.

Pro tip! (And just the tip!) If you ever try to "manscape" down there or a shave your b@lls and navel with a straight. BE VERY AWARE ABOUT HOW YOU HOLD THE BLADE AND WHATS SURROUNDING IT AND HOW! Either plan on having a h@rd on or tape your junk to you're navel. 😂 . I cleaned up everything really nice with a combo of a old Boker and old Garland Cutlery straight, and as literally finished up on the undercarriage, I flopped forward and my tip fell on my sword! 😂. Gave myself a new pee hole! 😅 Actually it wasn't that bad. Shallow but sharp cut. Blade was so sharp I didn't even feel it. A pea sized amount of blood. A little Neosporin, two days of healing, good as new. 😂
