Holly J had one of the best evolutions on Degrassi, I remember hating her so much at the beginning but she ended up as such a brilliant character

Holly J. is definitely one of my favourite characters. Top 5 for sure. She was just so ballsy, and totally wore the pants in every relationship she was in. Very often, "mean girl" characters on TV tend to soften as a result of suffering some sort of trauma, usually at the hands of a male (Paige, Darcy, Manny), but the hardship Holly J. faced never came from being taken advantage of by some guy. It wasn't a rape or a pregnancy that made audiences warm to her - it was Holly J. using her BRAIN to get help when she and Spinner were held at gunpoint in season 8. Holly J., even when facing huge challenges, was never portrayed as a victim. She never felt sorry for herself, and was always focusing on getting things done, and aiming high. Even when she became a sympathetic character, she always retained her edge. She became a wonderful friend to Fiona and Anya, but still told it like it was. She never became a pushover. I also loved how mature her friendship with Fiona was. They started out as enemies sure, but once they became friends, there was never any cattiness between them. Every interaction was totally sincere, and I loved that. Holly J. was one of the show's most progressive female characters. Love her.

I did say in Senior year... The main thing was that they both had identical storylines where they deserved the Presidency in their senior year, the other guy got the job and they ended up being the VP even though they should have realistically been Pres.

Great interview! I love all of these one-on-one interviews so much. Degrassi Forever!....And, this seems to be quite literally the case---LOL. Holly J was a truly fantastic character! She transitioned seamlessly from being the b****, to the down to earth, girl next door. ...And, she was always [most of the time] smart and logical, which I love seeing portrayed on television, in female characters.

Holly J had so much amazing storylines even with Mia. Season 9 HJ reminds me of Gossip Girl. Especially when they went to NY. Charlotte haven't changed a bit she looks so beautiful as ways and even seeing her pics on Instagram makes me happy she still friends with Annie and Charlotte set up with Annie boyfriend 😊
