Straight To Your Heart Bad English (live)

This is one of the only existing live performances of Straight To Your Heart.
John Waite announces Straight To Your heart as a new song for the ''new album'' ( which later became Backlash) John says it was a hard album to make. And the rest is history. The band disintegrated due to internal fights. This backlash was not survived by the band. Due to big ego's John Waite would later say in an Dutch veronica interview. '' I have a big ego, but these guys have huge ego's'' later there was a Dutch remake of this song called ''Recht Uit Mijn Hart'' by Bert Heerink . the orignal Bad English single was a minor hit in Holland. it peaked at number 41.

This was in 1991 or 1992. Problem: John Waite, Jonathan Cain and Neal Schon had big egos: 3 different directions for the future of Bad English. They were the writers. Drummer Deen Castronovo and bass guitarist Ross Valory just rode the coattails. The Storm also had members of Journey. Both bands released an album in 1991. Both supergroups broke up in the 1990s. I loved both of them! I hoped for a reunion in 2021. 😫

John's "big" ego did not even come close to the HUGE egos of Cain and Schon....Just look at NOW with Journey...

There also was pressure by the record company for them to use outside songwriters like Diane Warren who wrote "When I see You Smile". And to top it off grunge had just hit it big and unfortunately melodic rock was on the way out. Backlash was a really good album I thought.

Those companies should have laid off of outside songwriters. Tim Pierce and Mark Spiro were cool though! The companies could have gotten Mutt Lange, Jim Vallance or David Foster to work w/BE if they wanted bigger hits!

True, but if you look at John Waite solo albums, he often has one or two songs written by outside songwriters. Cain and Schon hate that unless they collaborate with them! Check the Journey albums: always at least one band member who writes the songs.

Arnel does a nice job with the Journey stuff but he is no Steve Perry and he is not John Waite either. I do enjoy him singing the tunes he has recorded however I can't stand his stage antics. He needs to remember the band is Journey and the audience came to see them not him.
