I get nervous when i watch these old videos. we always do the best we can with tools (physical/mental) we have. Sorry I can't give you the thumbs up. The method of notching and hinge was really not correct. Your girlfriend or helper was in danger because the tree would have hit her - you need a longer rope obviously. Be careful when felling or posting these videos.
