Yeh I would have been worried too, but! Once I got over it. I would definitely have found a way to give them a taste of their own medicine. Like take them out camping, get the fire going for them then say I'm going to grab some gear then split until the morning! They would have had to make a bed, gather wood, maybe a shelter too. They would learn a lesson they would never forget!

Oh man, I feelya! I was at a very long beach in south New Jersey with my two kids -- this was a fairly wild area, fairly deserted. I got distracted, and they disappeared. I thought the worst -- shark attack (great whites were in the area), cramps & drowning, abduction -- all those things. You are so right...anxiety is really horrible. I managed to get a rescue guy, and he traveled on a four wheeler along the beach for four miles, and found them walking, with their heads down, looking for sea glass and shells. They had no idea they had walked so far. Today, they are backpackers, and they do 26 miles a day, sometimes. Big WHEW! :) TELL YOUR STORIES! ♥

Great story, I hope the kids were as concerned for you as you were for them. I can't imagine even a thought of ever placing my parents in a situation that would place them in peril no matter how young and foolish. No punishment they could have dished out would compare with the shame I would have felt either. I am glad all turned out for the best and hope they matured and respected you and realized their selfish actions.
