Click rotation noises can drive you nuts!! Been there on my JL recently. Thought it was a bearing or a U joint. Used my action camera and squeeze clamp and moved it around to find the noise. Ended up being the spider gears in the front diff!! Great video, hope to be at JB next year?!?😃

I had the same/similar thing with my Escalade front passenger side wheel. I replaced the wheel hub, still clicked. Then I replaced the cv axel, still clicked....frustrated I went to Point S tire and they said that my new wheel lugs were bottoming out before being completely tight against the hub, stupid me!! Safe travels, love you guys!

The sound you’re hearing is the friction between your aluminum wheels and the steel hub on your axle. Also use the proper torque setting on you lug nuts. I’ve had that problem on aluminum wheel on semi trucks. Make sure the wheel and the hubs are both clean. Spray some silicone lubricant on the mating surface between the wheel and hub.

I've never thought that bead locks would do that, but my uncle has a 1968 RS/SS Camaro that has steel wheels with beauty rings and center caps, and it was making that type of noise where we thought for sure a front wheel bearing was going out and long story short the beauty ring was making the noise because it wasn't "beat" on all the way so it wasn't tight enough against the rim. Sucks y'all had to deal with that while on your trip, but it's always nice to learn new things and share it with the world so that we all now know that bead locks can do that.

When your in this situation just deflate your tire on the side you need to Jack up. That will get it lower to the ground so your stock Jack will work. Take the tire off, do what you need to do, then put the flat tire back on when your done and air it back up off of the Jack.

LOL!.. Nice!..If it makes you feel any better, my brother in law had the timing belt and water pump on his 01 exterra , replaced 2 more times for an overheating issue. It turned out to be a missing lower fan shroud, which the first guy who did the timing belt left off. Thanks for the vids..

Glad every thing turned out alright and you made it to jeep beach . Funny how sometimes its the simplest things that trip you up . speaking of jacks , I was watching Merlins Old School Garage and Merlin turned a stock scissor jack into a high lift jack with a piece of pipe and two pieces of 2" square tubing , If you only knew someone who could weld , then no need to carry pieces of 2x4's taking up space .

Had a new GMC Yukon once, it started making a loud clicking sound, got an appointment to take it in to the dealership about a week after the noise started. Got to the dealership, made a left turn into the service bay, it stopped clicking and I was like really it was just doing it. Never made that noise again, figured there was a rock stuck somewhere in the drivetrain and it finally came loose.

I had a truck that had clicking and thought it was axel. replaced it keept going thought it was bearing ended up being the rim that had chrome cover on it and it had rusted out and was lucky they didnt break and me wreak while running 70 to work most days lol

That sucks having to stop on the side of the road, but also checking the wheel while it was jacked in the air before tearing things apart would have probably helped to identify that the noise was not bearing related. Good stuff though.

We did check the wheel while it was jacked in the air (both in the last video & in this situation). No noise with no weight on it.
