Strange Berry Picker Disappearances

Hey everyone, I had a bit of a sore throat while recording this one, so hopefully that's not too noticeable. There's some odd disappearances in here, especially towards the second half of the video so get your thinking hat on for those and let me know your thoughts and opinions. Also, I couldn't add pictures of the missing other than in the final instance because they were just too long ago and I couldn't find any. I have a berry picking disappearance story! Back when my grandpa was young in Newfoundland he went berry picking with his friend and his friends grandpa. The grandpa went off by himself and he was never found. They found his hat and his empty berry bucket. My grandpa was a suspect in his disappearance.

I almost ended up a missing person in a national forrest. It is incredibly easy to get turned around in the forrests and lose your way. It only takes a few feet to a few yards from the trail to get completely lost. Believe it. (1) NEVER leave the trail. (2) always take a cellphone. (3) learn how to use a compass. (4) make sure someone knows where you went and when they should hear from you. (5) dress appropriately. (6) take provisions. (7) keep a pocket knife and lighter* handy (8) take an S.O.S. GPS device, (9) nevermind the rules... There are no rules in the wild... Go armed no matter what. It will only put the odds of survival in your favor should you run into beasts either man or animal.

@mo hardwood Boy am I glad too. Ever find yourself in a REAL bad way? Feel that shiver run down your spine. Had that and then some. Just to provide further detail, I left a trail in a national forrest to take more pictures of the nature on display. I kept track of my path but as I ventured deeper and deeper into the wilderness, gradually the forrest grew dense unto the point that I had lost my bearring. I knew I was screwed. Any attempt to find my way out could have only gotten me more lost. For being such an idiot I had a streak of brilliance, climbed a tree so I could see further and surveil the area. Just bearly made out a portion of earth that appeared like it might be the trail I left. It wasn't, it was a totally different trail but it was enough to get me out of that place. Believe.me when I say luck was on my side this could of went bad 100 different ways. You hear these stories about men who knew the trail, knew the area, completed the hike a thousand times before... Yet they end up either never found again if not miles upon miles away in dense wilderness. What happened to me is exactly how this likely goes down. Please be conscious of the fact that you're not a wind talker or Davey Crocket. Things csn go south out there in the blink of an eye and you may never be seen again. I knew without a shadow of a doubt that i was facing this truth on that day.

@mo hardwood Wow. Yeah being lost is easily one of the very most unsettling feelings a person can experience. I didn't mention this part either but... Naturally I ran into a few people along the trail and asked for help to find my way back. One person helped me find which direction to head along the trail. But other people I talked to wouldn't help me. Once I made it out to the roadway, one guy literally rolled up his window and drove away when I asked for help. Another guy told me to just keep walking however many miles along the roadway. I asked him to call the police dept. to help me find my way back etc. The guy refused to do even that. How do you feel about that huh? Guy tells you he's lost and you refuse to make so much as a phone call for him just to get him some aide. Unbelievable cowardly world we live in. Glad its just a story now. One that doesn't make me look so smart or courageous or anything... But maybe... Just maybe... Someone will read this and think twice before venturing off like I did. Years ago, I read about a man in the UK who disappeared while out in the woods. He was found, some days later, half conscious and very dazed and ccnfused, lying by a lake with one foot in the water. He was taken to hospital and when better he was able to talk about how he had woken up in a strange hospital where the staff spoke and moved in slow motion - which apparently ties up with being in another dimension. The abels in the clothes that he had been found in could not be traced to anywhere in this world - and it's highly unlikely that someone would sew made-up labels into their clothes! He eventually returned to his normal life. I believe the case was reported in the British Journal of Psychiatry. Great video! Many thanks for posting 💞

Sorry, no I don't. I read this story in a book about the paranormal. It was so long ago that I can't even remember the title. It was an incredibly good book and I wish I could get hold of it again! I seem to remember that some of the cases were reported in The British Journal of Psychiatry, Including the famous one about the two British teachers who experienced a slip in time while vacationing in France.

Please forgive me, but I adore telling these wonderful stories. The two older ladies were visiting the Palace of Versailes while on vacation in France. While walking around the gardens, they both started to feel very strange and the atmosphere seemed to be standing still. They attributed it to the extremely hot day. They then started to see people walking around dressed in 17th Century French costumes. I don't remember how long this continued, but suddenly they felt very odd again and then everything returned to normal. They assumed that what they had seen were actors in costume, hired by the Palace to entertain visitors, but when they enquired about this.at the Palace they were told that no such event had taken place at anytime over the Summer. The case was thotoughly investjgated, but no explanation could be found. The ladies did not touch alcohol and were very religious and of Sterling, upstanding character and reputation, so it is extremely unlikely that they would have made it up. So did someone slip LSD into their afternoon tea, but then the experience would have been very different - not lucid - and they wouldn't have hallucinated the same visions. There are so many unexplainable mysteries like this - how can we not believe that something really is "out there!". God Bless 💞

It's because officials _know_ that these missing people have been eaten by an Apex predator! No one ever wants to hear that. So, missing sounds better & is safer for the public. If officials _were_ honest, massive amounts of folks would avoid the parks. Or would flock to them & in revenge kill _everything_ that moved, _including_ other people! Missing is simply, safer.

On the day I wrote my original comment my father had a stroke and he didn't make it and that triggered an anxiety attack and these type of videos help me calm down so no I'm not a serial killer I'm just a man who had a bad day but I hope you have wonderful day🙂🙂

@robert will Not technically. I remember as a nurse having a Dr come before the procedure with a couple of trainee Drs and him descring me as a "middle aged woman of 38". I was appalled until I realized that if I lived until my mid 70's I WOULD be middle aged then. I'm almost 56 now and I do feel old but that is because I have old bones and they make me feel much older than I actually am. My father in law died aged 97 so he was "middle aged" at about 48. I absolutely do NOT want to live to be THAT old!

I’ve seen probably a half dozen cases of children going missing in the winter for days. A common thread is that the kids say a version of a friendly bear or a hairy man took care of me and fed me berries. Maybe it’s true that they don’t like people taking their berries.

Blueberries for Sally by Robert McCloskey is a children's book that warns you about getting taken while picking berries. It's been a long long time since reading it but I think it's based in Maine. Maybe it was a way to teach the children to stay close! Don't wander!

Also, there are two stories that I’ve heard that back the alternate dimension theory. One where a woman saw and heard all the ppl searching for her but they didn’t see or hear her, directly in front of them and screaming for help and also a man who was actually paying attention in the woods while hunting and literally SAW like this “invisible” screen before him. He stuck his foot in and it disappeared. Had he NOT been looking where he was going, which if you’re lost andor confused you’re most likely looking around or in a daze, he’d have walked into it without noticing or being able to stop.

The dogs are given something with the missing people's scent to find. The people that were found had to have been lifted up off the ground. This could be why the dogs don't pick up the scent anymore.

@@carolv8450 Like David Paulides says, if it was a bear that took someone, you'd be able to tell. There would be signs of some kind of a struggle taking place, if the person was dragged, there would be a trail to follow, blood, human remains. Bear, at least Brown Bear, and Polar Bear will actively hunt, kill, and eat people. Actually, bear are not considerate, they will start eating people before they're deceased, which is horrific to think about. Bear go for the head, so it would not be a nice scene to come upon. Remember, Black Bear are not harmless. Many Black and Brown Bears will run from people if they have the chance to do so though, thankfully. Any large predator attacking, injuring, killing, possibly eating a human, there will be signs that something like that occurred. So cases in which something like animal predation onbpeople has occurred are easily ruled out.

Okay, there are several things that creep me out when it comes to disappearances in the woods... 1) It happens in an area the victim is familiar with 2) It happens while the victim is with other people 3) They turn up with no memory of what happened 4) They turn up in an area that has been searched Any one of those things is enough to make me second guess a walk on the trails. But William's disappearance and death?! HEEBEE JEEBEES!!!!! Like, what the hell??? If you go hiking, aren't alone, you're a fit/healthy person, and you know the area and you still go missing?! The surprise here in Alaska is due to having the man be found alive...if at all. Most that go missing (witch are MANY a year) rarely gets found and nearly never alive and unharmed. We get used to hearing about the missing found in spring after break up.

There are a group of skeptics of David's research and actually laugh at his documented observations and the similarities of many of the disappearances. I find it utterly ridiculous and rather cruel for anyone to laugh at these situations of people going missing and mostly end up deceased. The fact that there is a group of people who are trying to dis-credit the work done on these cases. Can't they find anything else to do?? They must have extremely boring lives.

@DarkBullet 32 ya idk, cadaver dogs live to find bodies, in general young well trained dogs equate work with play from what I understand. Are you thinking they smell something that is taking people? They work off conditioning I think but im sure some really offensive natural scents would make them feel sick or something. I was thinking people are being plucked up or away somehow in a way that leaves no scent. Can't smell what isn't there.

It worth noting that there are instances of old folklore that reference people being "taken by the fairies" if they pick the berries after a certain time of year. It seems some of these particular cases were not very late in the season but still interesting. If you have researched old lore and tales of fairy takings, they do and will include things such as lost time, reappearing in odd locations or in locations where someone has already looked, much like these, and other cases similar whether berries are involved or not. Is it fairies? Maybe? Im sure its all connected and related and depending on the era, people will use different descriptions, and interpret things in different ways.

I was making my first ever homemade pie, blueberry pie, a couple weeks ago using berries picked from our blueberry bushes in our yard... and right as I was about to put it in the oven, it fell and I watched as berries and shattered glass flew everywhere. So the next day, before I went to pick more berries for attempt #2, I was thinking about berry pickers and missing 411, which then reminded me of your video on the Fae where either you mentioned or someone in a comment mentioned that when speaking to the Fae, you should say things like "I appreciate your kindness" instead of "thank you". So, when I went out to pick the blueberries, I made a couple comments like "I appreciate your generosity as well as these berries, and won't take more than I need for my pie". WELLLLL, my 2nd attempt at my first homemade pie turned out fucking AAAAAAMAZING! After listening to so many of these cases concerning berry picking, I'm wondering if they are the food source of a creature? That would explain the why and how they were found miles away from the original location. The entity involved does this to lead people away. There are roots and other edibles in a forest that can cause confusion and even deep sleep, if you know which ones to use. As for the military one, I'm leading towards an experiment gone wrong. If this fellow was truly outside, he could of had a delayed reaction to the test. Which is why the push to find the fellow. It has been proven that they used military men for warfare testing without their knowledge.

This was an outstanding and very interesting production. Your in-depth research is to be commended and it is just one of the things that makes this channel a cut above similar channels. All of these cases are very strange but the Fort Knox disappearance really stands out. I looked it up and being pigeon toed usually disqualifies anyone from joining the Army as they cannot easily march, hike or perform other physical activities that are required in Boot Camp and later on. And “he talks out of the side of his mouth...?” Why? Is that another deformity? Regardless, that is another very odd component to this sad event. You have given everyone a lot to think about with all of these stories. Just FYI, yes, David Paulides still talks about berry picking being a factor in disappearances and he mentioned it again in one of his recent videos. He said that he recently went picking huckleberries and he noticed how much concentration it takes... so perhaps berry pickers are so intent on their task that they don’t notice anything around them. This is what I got from David P. on his channel the other day: After recently watching some berry pickers, he realized that they were very preoccupied and indifferent to their surroundings. He also specifically included mushroom pickers in this particular recent reference. My observations: It was like they’re behaving as if they are in the produce section in the grocery store instead of in a potentially hostile situation- after all, bears like berries,too. Obviously, this makes them vulnerable to dangers whether they are coincidental or intentional. For a PRETERNATURAL apex-predator, it would simply be a naturally occurring bait&trap situation... After all, humans do it to other creatures all the time- as well as each other... especially to children. Predators do abduct as well as terminate- predation is not limited to the acquisition of a food source. Interesting observations. Sounds logical. However, there is never evidence of any kind to indicate a predictor attack. Believe me, I have volunteered for search and rescue missions in the past… And when a predator has attacked a victim… There’s evidence everywhere. The lack of any type of evidence of an animal attack is not only highly suspect but indicates to me that they did not disappear due to a predator (an animal predator anyway).

There are things out there that we cant imagine. I was out at camp 3 wks ago in Northern Ontario and this massive thunderstorm blew through. Afterward, sitting at the head of the bed in the sleep camp with my blankets bunched up near the bottom something small that couldnt be seen began to walk on the bed, pushing the blankets down with each step. I was transfixed. After taking a few steps towards me it squeaked at me and then, I'm assuming it left bc I didnt see or hear anything more afterwards

This reminds me of the last time I picked a few Himalaya blackberries off a steep cul-de-sac on a hilly, heavily wooded area outside Portland OR. A mountain of wild Blackberries grew all the way up along a street to an abandoned, distressed and more or less hidden multilevel house on a steep hillside with a door wide open down the lower side, not immediately visible from the road. Curious, I walked down the embankment & ventured into its spooky, dank tattered interior, partly gutted with 3 levels and curtains blowing out the open windows looking down into the wild wooded gulch. The whole area had an eerie, desolate, forlorn even foreboding feeling about it and as it was very late afternoon with long, growing creepy shadows, I retreated & climbed a steep old wooden stairway which came up to the old narrow driveway, back out to the road. I was not going to be alone inside that place at dusk and certainly not after dark . . .I had thoughts of 411 stories!

The same thing happened with the couple from the Pine Barrens in NJ. The police had to cut back dense brush and thick foliage to get them out of the area they were stuck in. Unfortunately they were dead. It is completely baffling as to how or why they would climb or crawl into sticker bushes etc.

Oh God I miss that place. I wanted to move down there 2 years ago and I visited with some of my 5 children on 3 occasions to determine exactly where and to look at some properties. I really loved the Peninsula and the area around Port Arthur as well as the town and outside of Deloraine but in all probability it would have been the West Coast because it was cheaper. But there began a very nasty time with my daughters and my money including the younger one who was going to come with me refusing to go and the older one being jealous of the younger one coming with me and convincing the younger one not to go!. In the end the bulk of the money, my superannuation and other funds, that was supposed to allow me to buy my own home was spent and I have moved away from my children and the relationship between us is no longer the same. I remember flying Qantus and when the plane would start its desent and you could see the island below I would think "it feels like home to me". I'm still very disappointed at how things turned out and if I'm ever gifted any money in future no one will know and I will go to Tasmania on my own and tell no one I've gone!

I had a similar story that happened to my mother's cousin on his wedding day. Somehow he was hidden away in one ở the family's chicken shed(the shed was walled by sticks about a meter high and 1.5m wide) so that it was quite bright and see able day time). He was crouching in a corner among the chickens. Everyone went looking for him to go and meet his bride but he was nowhere to be found when Everyone had given up looking for him and they heard him squeaks in a very unhuman voice coming from the chicken shed..asked him how and why he was in there..he said he doesn't know how he managed to squeezed into that corner of the shed also he saw many heads had peeped through the shed looking for him and heard Everyone was calling his name but he couldn't speak and was quite annoyed that why can't people see him while he can see them. That was quite baffling and the elders said he must have annoyed some hidden beings that they decided to punished him

I love how oddly specific this is. I live in the woods and berry picking has basically become tradition at this point. Blackberries, huckleberries, blueberries, beauty berries and mayhaws (a type of hawthorne berry) are in abundance and there are so many ways to use them from jams to pie. However, I've yet to encounter anything truly spooky. The most potentially dangerous things I've come across in the woods would have to be venomous snakes (an eastern diamondback rattlesnake, several copperheads and one chonky cottonmouth (just fed, most likely) a hobo camp, and a distillery clearly constructed using only the best redneck ingenuity had to offer, both of which were unoccupied atm. Considering I'm armed to the teeth and always with my dogs, I don't get easily spooked. But a part of me wants to be... maybe. I can't say that I wouldn't love to find the answers to some age old questions: Do cryptids like Bigfoot (Bigfeet?) skinwalkers, wendigo, skunk apes, chupacabra, etc. actually exist? Staircases: real or nah? Are time-slips legit, or just the product of human error in stressful situations? How easy/difficult would it be to just disappear out here? Would anyone ever find me? Wtf just caused every critter in the forest to go deathly silent? But then again, some questions are just better left unanswered. Especially that last one, I think as I hightail it t/f outta there. When I say I want to see [insert cryptid here], I mean undetected and from a safe distance. As much as I love getting bizarre with _Top Mysteries,_ I ain't trying to end up on a list here.

Was way off course ended up pretty far when i found a lake. I had to go back to end up where my family was parked& camping. Do not go wout a cumpus. Do not enter alone. Take protection. That lady that showed up in her shed on the farm, where 2000 ppl were looking for her. Was NEVER missing to begin with. She likely ran off with some man, didnt' want to bring shame to her family and made the whole thing up.

As someone who was lost in the outback in a mining area with old holes everywhere as a child, youd be surprised exactly how far someone can walk when in fear. The people who i ended up finding in the middle of nowhere could not believe how i had got there within a day and without hitting something like a fence. I did go on some roads at the start of my walk but when i realised the road was gone i was already lost. I had a dog with me but he wouldnt "go home" for me to follow. I was lucky i kept my head and started walking in a straight line unfortunately it was the wrong direction from where i had come from but it was near enough to the people who were putting down a bore hole on "spec" for me to hear the motor and adjust my heading.

True, I was lost in a state park with my grandmother when I was ten. We made our way out of the park somehow, and found a road that would lead back to where she lived. We knew the way back to her house better than back to our group so we walked all the way to her house and got in a car and drove back. We got back when they were about to call the park authorities. Not sure how far we walked, but it was quite a ways. Seemed like a nice adventure at the time, but my grandfather was worried sick.

Pigeon-toed just means the tips of your feet point toward each other, instead of the other way like they should. I had it a little as a kid, and they gave me "corrective shoes" to wear, which were like really big heavy saddle shoes. It worked though!

I wish that just one of thease people who go missing would go under hypnotherapy when they are found I would want to know if I were them maybe then there might be some light on thease cases as there is something odd going on all over the world the government's know but there saying nothing thank you for all your great stories as usual

Yes but if you are picking berries, mushrooms, wild flowers, fire wood, or digging for precious rocks... you become preoccupied and therefore a target for predators to creep up on you from behind such as giant Thunderbirds who prefer to strike when they can’t be seen doing it !
