One of my favorite lines from the movie. I can't tell you how many times through the years I've told my passengers the breaks have gone out and used that same line as I resignedly fold my arms. Gets a great reaction every time.

"No point in steerin' now." "Take off! You steer that thing!" HA! Classic! Thanks for posting this. :)

"Take off, the parking brake never worked!" That can be said about pretty much all of my cars.

I had to fix my parking brake since they got soft during the time I had to fix my brake lines.

Haha So do I, but have to explain where it came from every time. This movie ranks up there with Caddyshack as a must see in my book!

It was at Regency theater in Racine. We exited this movie and a news crew from Chicago(?) caught us and asked us our reaction to the movie. We had to scramble up a tin foil antennae real quick and only able to get a grainy / scrambly replay on tv later. I wish I could find if it existed to see my 15 yr old self again.

One of the deepest scenes in any movie that is about two drunken Canadians...Of course, the movie is a derivation of Hamlet, but still a completely underrated movie and scene.
@frisbeepilot3 жыл бұрын
We watched this movie in OAC English, just after studying Hamlet. An essay on our final exam asked us to compare the two. (Our teacher loved this movie.)

The movie was filmed in the early 1980's and that van would've been considered a beater at the time. Today it would qualify for collector plates.

My car did that 3 months ago (line ruptured when I was testing the brakes before driving it, but didn't drive it because of the busted line) and got the brakes working and the parking brake didn't work either until now.
