It was ingenious the way EC put those licks together so beautifully and seamlessly. That’s art.

Just found this. It’s the solo, yes! Eric with clever phrases, bends and vibrato- doing Albert King. It’s fantastic to hear you single out the notes and how they are executed. Without Ginger and Jack covering your sound up. You have the technique down and it resonates as if Eric was playing it, himself. Beautiful. Thank you!

The song is in A Mixolydian (5th Mode of the Key of D Major). The line Clapton sings is all Mixolydian tonality, which is why it sounds so "groovy psychedelic" over a 12 bar blues. ;o)

Thanks so much Mike, you are so right about Mr. Clapton, his timing, and choice of notes, and the attitude he has makes the sound so classic, to me, and finally after years of playing I'm beginning to be able to play his style . EC has always been my all time favorite players, I think some his best work was done with Cream, and has always stuck with me. There are a lot of guys out there that can play ten note to his one, but his one has more soul and meaning then 1000 scales. This and Spoonful, born under a Bad sign are some of my favorite songs to play in Clubs and have never lost there magic.

Nice vibrato sir...very smooth. The riff Clapton plays around the lead lines reminds me of the first track on the Bluesbreakers album..."All Your Love" (I think that's what it's called) which incidentally is in A also, all be it A minor.. Some of the lead lines are very similar also. But like you say, the devil is in the detail and some of those lines are really slinky and very smooth. Excellent job, great lesson, I like that it's your interpretation. Thanks.
