Sigma Star Saga mega fan here: Bandai Namco owns the rights to the franchise. Devs over at Wayforward have actually wanted to make a sequel/re-release the original for quite a while now (They've confirmed as much on Twitter), but their hands are tied on the matter unless BN decides to give them back one day. The game's ending (Whichever they decide to deem canon) deserves to be followed up on, cause the state of the universe afterwards would make for a compelling sequel. Thanks for covering it, Rebel! It needs all the love it can get!
@Popcultureguy30002 жыл бұрын
So in the next one you’ll talk about Astro Boy: The Omega Factor, right? It’s filled with so much fan service for the larger Osamu Tezuka extended universe by making his “Star System” (his method of “recasting” the same character models in different “roles” like they were actors in film and television, this allowed him to save time making manga because he wouldn’t always have to come up with a new character design for each of the hundreds of manga and anime projects he made throughout his sadly cut-short by cancer life) a huge plot point and fetch quest in the second half of the game. It’s incredible they were able to make such a dedicated tribute to Tezuka’s many creations when most of his manga library wasn’t translated into English until long after this game and the 2003 anime revival of Astro Boy had concluded. And speaking of Treasure, this was console was pretty much their last hurrah when it came to side scrolling bullet-hell schmups, and Gunstar Super Heroes would also be a good GBA game to mention next time.

The thing to remember about Sigma Star Saga, apart from Psyme being best girl, is that Krill ships are bioships and, as such, are alive. Random encounters are literally a random ship in atmosphere on patrol getting scared by something moving and sucking up the nearest person wearing a parasite suit to blow up enough scary things until it calms down. I wish WayForward would revisit the universe, maybe with the random encounters toned down a smidge or reworked a bit, even if it means having to change the lore behind them.
@johnbuscher2 жыл бұрын
Hooooly crap, that’s actually a funny bit of lore that explains why things are random. If Wayforward did another one, I’d ask for an SMT-style warning icon when a random battle is more likely (and can be excused as a ship getting suspicious of something) and offer the player some mechanic that can help reduce that suspicion level so that you aren’t pulled completely at random.

Kid Paddle's author (Midam) had even more success with the spinoff comic "Game Over", focusing on the barbarian vidya character and the horrible deaths he or the princess he tries to rescue meet. It's one of the rare times I took a blind chance on a game without a franchise backing it or word of mouth, and I ultimately wasn't disappointed. So many hours were spent figuring out how to get each ending, and hours wasted trying to figure out how to save your one Bro in the game only to learn it is impossible. Another nitpick I have to add is that you are locked out of getting the best ending on your first playthrough. You can save Psyme but the way to save the human chick only unlocks after you've already beaten the game once.

GBA library is HUGE, like you can easily find 50 game that would intertein you for a year. You have FF tactics, Golden Sun, Mario tennis (minigames where fun), yu-gi-ho and Duel master for card, Megaman Battle network with a fun combat system not turn base, The sims in GBA is an adventure game, very weird and sick! Very charming, you have Advance wars as the older brother to Fire emblem in GBA, there is a serie of pinball games for pokemon, quite fun, Broken Sword for those wanting a point and click adventure, Zelda, harvest moon. And this isnonly by the top of my head.

16:20 I think the person who did the soundtrack to SpongeBob SquarePants creature from the krusty Krab might’ve also did the soundtrack to sigma star saga

Its nice that you visited our country but sadly you were in the worst part. Be sure to visit the lovely south next time! Also major big ups for actually using "The Netherlands".

There's a pretty decent Gundam Seed fighting game on the GBA. It also had a Japan only sequel that was hard as fuck.

If you're gonna be discussing strange GBA games, Rhythm Tengoku (or any Rhythm Heaven game) is a must to talk about!

I loved the colors of the Megaman Battle Network games. Bright outside with lots of sunny locations and delightful soundtrack, fun and addictive combat, with interesting and clever boss villains. If I had to think of colorful games, I'd think of those.

I actually asked a high ranking Wayforward employee about it during the "Vote for Shantae in Smash!" campaign and he confirmed that Namco owns the rights to Sigma Star Saga.
