This was a new group to me and I enjoyed them very much! They did a nice job on this cover and made a few changes to make it their own, I always like to see bands make some changes to a cover and not just try to make an exact version!

Excellent reaction to a most beautiful performance. I think covers like this show how - beyond the original production's very big and orchestrated sound - there is always a very strong core in Jeff Lynne's songs. And the core is timeless and flexible, very open to reinterpretation. Juliana Hatfield has a recent album, where she "sings ELO". These covers are very different from the originals in many ways, but the core remains, and with her originality and sound, they work very well. Of course Jeff Lynne - like many other artists I guess - also began his career (in 1964?) with performing covers of his favourites, and continued doing so. With ELO he made Chuck Berry's _Roll Over Beethoven_ of course, but at live performances in the early days ELO would also do _Great Balls Of Fire_ by Jery Lee Lewis, and _Daytripper_ by the Beatles. I think this is an absolutely amazing version of _Day Tripper_ btw. I certainly prefer it over the original, the Long Beach live performance is a wonderfully eclectic experience. And of course Jeff revisited his childhood favourites with the albums Armchair Theatre (1990) and Long Wave (2012). And just like artists have performed and kept songs and music alive for centuries, so they will probably also keep Jeff Lynne's songs fresh for centuries to come. ❤

Thanks Jeff for another great video, Ralph and I are on the same page. We seem to love the same groups that do covers these 4 people are extremely talented, and there are literally dozens of videos of them performing which are all outstanding.

Yup. Your reaction pretty much matched mine. Of course, when ELO does this there will be a whole orchestra so seeing it with just 4 guitars and voices is never going to be the same. But they seemed to include all the stuff I needed to enjoy it. Elle & Toni's channel is full of this kind of stuff with various other "friends". Most have individual channels but these videos where they just sit down and record in somebody's living room are the best IMO. That is definitely the way I'd love to spend an evening with friends!

@@rgoers Have you not seen Jeff's "acoustic" version, with just Richard Tandy on the piano, and himself with an acoustic guitar? You have something beautiful to look forward to enjoy then! This cover is also wonderful. Elle Cordova is a brilliant vocalist - and songwriter! - much like Jeff Lynne.

that was indeed magical. Visually, these young people reminded me of my nieces and nephews, who like to just play and sing what they like and want, without pretense. I have been following Josh, Carson and his friends for quite some time. They are all really talented. I really enjoyed this one and your reaction to it. Thanks, Jeff!
