This season amazed me at what all they packed into it moving the story ahead. "Doctor Zhivago" great. "Dr Strangelove" is fantastic.

We still have roller skating rinks but in some areas a lot of places have closed down same goes for the ice skating rinks there are very few ones left in the south at least

Just wanted to say I finally looked at pictures in Belgium and WOW!so beautiful❤❤By the way, yes the roller skating looked exactly like this and was so much fun. Those kids would NOT have gotten away with what happened at all. Even back then if there was bullying it was probably around where no one saw it, trust me I found out the hard way. We do still have a rink here, and I used to take my son there all the time.

They incorporated the "Satanic Panic" into this season. Dungeons and Dragons, Heavy Metal, targeting 'outcasts'...

Yeah I saw Mary react incredulously to Jason saying they couldn't differentiate reality from fiction which leads them to kill. This was a real paranoia in the 80's, if a bit niche because the fear was pushed by conservative Christians and D&D wasn't as popular back then
@Suchega_Uber22 сағат бұрын
Just putting it out there, they are using D&D names, but none of these are like their namesakes. Like, at all. I feel like that might be obvious, but it kind of sounded like you thought these were the actual D&D characters, and that couldn't be further from the truth. It's just a way for them to be able to verbalize the horror of what they are seeing. It's how they are wrapping their brain around the trauma.

Yes, basically the D&D terms they use, are their way of making metaphors.

Season 4 is definitely my favourite. Hopefully season 5 will take the number 1 spot.

We have like 19 roller skating rinks, 10 ice skating rinks, and like 28 skate parks? Not exactly a ton of them, but a decent enough amount that you can at least find one not TOO far away from you.

Skating rinks and arcades still sort of exist, but they're rare, and they are definitely defining images of the 80s.

We have a skating rink in my town and my husband and I go quite often. It’s a throwback to skating at rinks when we were in high school in the 80s.

Hi Mary This was a great reaction and comments here.... Loved it so much! Mary :" I am in for a ride" Hopper : "Hold my beer" This is one of my favorite episodes . The way the group went looking to find and help Eddie instead of assuming Eddie killed Chrissy was super special for me . I know Chrissy's boyfriend really Loved her but his anger over Chrissy's murder is really fueled by a wrong mindset . All because the cops did not even clarify to him who killed Chrissy because they could not know where to find Eddie to ask him anything. I can not blame Eddie for running after what he saw and I really can not get mad at Chrissy's boyfriend for needing answers . I mean even the cops handled this situation confused because they had not ever seen a crime scene like Chrissy's . Things really got twisted all around and only the group were the ones willing to listen to the facts without making assumptions . For me things from here on start to get a little better and a little more rocky.... trying not to spoil anything . Thank you Mary I really enjoy your reactions and comments

I have to say that the last 10 minutes of episode 4 is one of the most gripping television productions ever. Ever.

I know less than nothing about D&D, but films and books are more familiar to me. My parents were of that Dr. Yuri Zhivago/Lara difficult love affair generation, I was an 80's TV kid, and now people follow streaming services (although all nostalgia for older tech and culture is rife today). In ST it is really obvious that they use many pop culture nods, e.g. in the video store to comment on the show. Like the show earlier once even beginning with the E.T. group of kids eating pizza and playing a board game. Dustin bets his X-Men comic which has the famous Dark Phoenix story hinting at El's journey in S1. One kid is named Michael, like in E.T., El is introduced to the house, like E.T., here the theme of troubled love through the novel Zhivago, which had a real ordeal to be published - CIA was even involved. Although written from the 1920's until 1956, and Pasternak winning the Nobel Prize, it was published in The SU only in 1988. David Lean's film was partly filmed here, in the East of Finland. And then there's that poster on the video store wall Steve and Robin lean against which is from the film 'Last Dragon' where roles include an 'Eddie' and 'Angela'.

15:25 I am not sure if he peaked in HS. I mean, he has saved the world a couple of times, countless lives, etc. And that was after HS. But yeah, romance wise, I agree. Hey, at least he had a peak!

You didn't show it in this video, but the TV show that Max was watching in her flashback is Misfits of Science, a one-season, comedy adventure show about people with powers. A young Courtney Cox played a character named Gloria, who could move things with her mind.

Skating rinks are still around, but the locals ones in my town closed. One was a while back, but the popular one closed I think because the owner died. Maybe it was because it was trashy. It was always kind of like a night club for preteens and teens, with no supervision. I think this episode resonates with me because one of my memories of being bullied was at the skating rink.

is it just me or does anyone else notice that in S4, Joyce and Eleven look almost the same, they look 99,9% identical
@joshuayeager3686Күн бұрын
It was done on purpose because Joyce is the one now caring for Eleven (Jane) and Joyce is a middle-lower class single mom who cuts the hair of all her children and typically purchases clothing from thrift stores or uses patterns to make clothes so El’s look would become similar to hers

For some reason, they thought it would be a good idea to spoil the Hopper thing in a teaser.🥲
