Okay, everybody! The point was *not* to break Hopper's ankle! The point was to *deform the shackle* enough that Hopper could slip his foot out of it. The Russian prisoner was *concerned* he would break Hopper's ankle, especially if he missed, but that wasn't the purpose The plan did work, and the shackle got bent enough that Hopper could slip his foot out. However, the metal of the shackle did cut a big gash in his foot, which was probably gonna happen, no matter what, But Hopper's ankle is *not broken* . There's no way he could escape if it were, because that's a seriously debilitating injury.

So small point of information. El’s time in custody was incredibly short. Like she’s been arrested, interrogated, processed and shipped to detainment in the time it takes for the boys to ask to visit her. All without legal guardianship or counsel present. That case would probably have been thrown out pretty quickly.
@thomashiggins93202 жыл бұрын
It could be one of those situations where the cops really just want to scare a problem kid badly enough that she straightens out, but a quick scene showing that would've made that clear. As it was, the writing in that sequence was the weakest part of this particular episode.

There are a lot of talented actors on this show. But I really felt El confronting Mike with the letters. The little quiver in her voice that eventually rises as she becomes more emotional. Magnificent. You can actually see her frown really hard last episode when Mike gives her the flowers that say, "From, Mike". Mike also seems to know something's going on with Will since El mentioned him painting something for someone he likes but when he asked about it, Will said it was nothing. Finn Wolfhard did say Mike was going to go through some major changes and shifts this season, so I wonder what's going on in that head of his?

"You can't interview a child without a parent present..." Actually, they can. That they can't is a very common misconception, even to this day (much like the whole reading of the Miranda rights thing on TV). Additionally, the laws in the '80s weren't yet tailored to protect minors as much as they do today...especially a minor under the care of a non-present guardian, legal or otherwise. It seems pretty harsh by today's standards, but it was still perfectly legal in 1986.

The police absolutely can arrest and interview a minor without a parent present, especially back in the 1980s when there was even less legal protection for minors. The Star Wars reference was actually brilliant and appropriate considering the retro nature of the whole show. I always appreciate a good 'that's what she (or he or they) said' joke.

@blacksheep_edge14122 жыл бұрын
No, you got it right. Will is gay. Has been for a while. Back in season 3 Mike said to Will something about Will not liking girls. Then in the first episode of this season Will has a giant poster of Alan Turing for his "historical hero" assignment. Alan Turing was very famously gay, and the genius behind the UK breaking the German Enigma code. Turing is considered the grandfather of modern computing due to his work. Much of which initially went credited to other men due to his being gay. Turing was even sent to prison, and died because of his sexuality. The fact Will chose Turing as his hero is a big clue to him embracing his own sexuality, even as he is forced to keep it hidden. The clues are all there and you put it together the way the show wanted you to.

I don't know why he necessarily has to be in love with Mike for him to think it's bad that Eleven lies to him. I wouldn't like my friends' boyfriends to lie to the face, and that's not why I'm in love with them, it's just something that seems fine to me. It's called loyalty. And it also bothered me that Eleven lied to Mike so much, if it had been a lie or two, it would have been tolerable, but Eleven was lying too much and blatantly. Someone needed to be the voice of reason and Will was perfect for that. Besides, Will was really freaking out with all the things that Eleven told Mike about her life in Cali, it was necessary for him to ask her why, especially if she was the one who always said "Friends don't lie" and that's why she had break up with him before.
@blacksheep_edge14122 жыл бұрын
@@Threeleebird I think you missed his point. He was saying that because he is in love with/has a crush on Mike that El lying to Mike is even harder for him to bear watching. Will has had a crush on Mike for a while, but he respects that Mike doesn't feel the same way, even if he hopes he can find some reciprocal feelings. The painting Will wouldn't let anyone see (for a special friend) was in Will's hands when they were at the airport to pick up Mike. On seeing Mike go straight to El and not really give him a second look he crumpled the painting in his hands and bit his tongue. He wants Mike to be happy, but he wants to be happy together with Mike, and he is having a hard time seeing El lie to him. He'd feel that way even if he didn't love him, but him loving Mike makes it just *that much worse* for him to see her lying to Mike like that.

Will knows this very well, in case he really is "in love" with Mike (until it really becomes explicit I'll continue to doubt. I think Will just hasn't quite matured and is confused, at least that's what Noah said) Then why say anything? He doesn't want Mike to get away from him. If it makes you feel better, Hopper did not get his ankle broken. He wanted the big Russian prisoner to hit the shackle enough to deform it, so he could slip it off his foot. The Russian was *afraid* he would break Hopper's ankle, especially if he missed, but that wasn't the purpose. In the end, he did manage to bend the shackle enough, and Hopper could get his foot out. However, the metal shackle did injure Hopper's foot by cutting a big gash into it, but that was probably unavoidable. Still, the point wasn't to break Hopper's ankle, and that's not what they did.

@mrdr01612 жыл бұрын
This is exactly why I don't think Mike is in love with her. Whenever he compliments her, he brings up her powers. He's not in love with her, he's in awe of her. He's a massive nerd and loves superheroes and a real person with real powers came knto his life and he's mistaken bis awe for genuine love
@iamlinda1002 жыл бұрын
@@mrdr0161 I think Mike is in love with El, he just doesn't know how to say it or express it, he is a massive nerd but has always been socially awkward when it comes to feelings of the heart. and let's not forget that this is his first real romantic relationship, he mentioned in season 3 that he has never felt this sort of romantic love before so he doesn't really know how to handle it properly and he is still a kid learning, he is not 100% confident in himself to handle these feelings, while Lucas is a lot more confident than Mike when it comes to these feelings. And it's not just her powers, I'm sure a part of him is in awe of El, but I doubt that's the only reason he is so attracted to El, remember in S3 he was very protective of El and was angry at the others for trying to take advantage of her powers and urging her not to push herself so hard, telling her that she didn't have to use her powers if she didn't want to. And in S3 Mike literally told the others that he loves El in the heat of the moment, Mike was so agitated & frustrated at the others for treating El like a robot, usually when people are in such an emotional state they tend to blurt out their real feelings. And then Mike quickly realised he said the L word and was embarrassed and he has not said that word again since. I think that's why he never wrote "love" in his letters to El, he was embarrassed and doesn't know how to express it directly to El yet. I think Mike truly loves her as a person, and not just as a superhero. I think during that particular argument he just wanted to reassure El but probably did not word it properly, El called herself a "monster", Mike just wanted to reassure her that she's a good person, but has yet to learn how to be more direct about his feelings. He even confided in Will about, telling Will that maybe if he had been more direct & told El his true feelings for her then maybe she would've taken Mike with her.

I recommend going to your library, (probably the main branch though,) and asking if they have microfiche, because as many are digitalizing everything they still have those records and physical records for both posterity and that it takes a very, very long time to get all that stuff digitized. I forget which group it was but at their current timeline it will take until 2050 to digitize everything and that’s just one physical database. A few years after high school two of my best friends at the time and I went down to the main branch of the local library and went through about five years or so of our local news paper from the 1950s. You don’t have to be investigating a murder to use it and the librarian will show you how-they very much want people to learn about history, especially the history of the community. It’s also useful for genealogy-looking up announcements (weddings, births/baptisms/christenings, graduations name changes, sometimes they would even announce a vacations,) and obituaries.

”Violence is not the answer” is such a cliche and dumb thing to say. Of course violence is not right, but bullying aka mental violence is just as bad, if not worse (that girls face will heal faster than El’s mental skars from a constant torment which can affect her life for years), but here we see the society we live in. Bullying is ”wrong” but it’s accepted, while the moment someone retaliates physically that is suddenly the end of the world. If violence was not the answer here, what was? Talk? Like that helped when the teacher took her away? Moving, so that piece of shit can move to bullying the next person? What El did was wrong, but she had been wronged an entire year already, the one who did it didn’t have any real consiquences because you cant have any for bullying in today’s world if one is not physically damaged. That girl got what she deserved

... Will does have a crush on Mike.. Will had a gift for him at the airport but decided not to give it to him... If you notice how he's acting when all three of them are together, it's pretty obvious.

Nikki I am 100% with you- this stuff's terrifying! I always watch these reactions right after the show because otherwise it'll get way too in my head and I will NOT be sleeping, so thank you both for helping me to process this one XD

Hello new subscriber here. I have been a fan of stranger things since season 2 and I just realized to watch reactors react to stranger things and tbh you guys are the most legit reactors I have seen, the way you get hooked by the series since season 1 andthe way you react as well as a parent and relate to the situations happening to the kids and the way that you have analization in every episodes you are watching makes it much more amazing. I got hooked to your reactions and I binged watched your reactions since season 1. and new subscriber here because you guys are very amazing! thank you for loving the show, seriously you guys , love your reactions as always. when you said that there is a certain type of horror different from the previours season that is because basically the duffer brothers used 80s horror as reference like nightmare at the elm street as one of the basis in creating the villain vecna, and also there is a cameo of a character in that movie in this series! it was just amazing. cant wait for your reaction to ep 4 which is my favorite basically because it revolves to fav character in the show. millie bobby brown's one of the fav scene in this season is when she felt like mike doesnt love her anymore because she lost her power, and her acting in that one, wow. also a fun fact that Vecna actor wears prosthetics and have to sit for 7 hours to be on full makeup to become a villain, finn (mike) said in an interview that jamie (vecna actor) always come to the set at 1am and sit for the make up for 7 hours before fiming his scenes. and also i thought you might wanna pay attention as to mike and will's interaction because I think it is importany for will's character. thank you for your amazing reactions nikki and steven! love from the philippines.

This is a random comment I know, but I don’t have my father in my life. He disowned me because I’m trans and queer. I absolutely love your guys’ channel. You guys feel like home to me. You’re my favorite KZbin channel. (And Steven’s laugh sounds like a warm hug)

sam's speech to el about getting her powers back stronger, to me, sounded like a 1980's movie trailer.

Bruh I’ve been done with trailers for 2 years and makes movies way more enjoyable. We’ll if they are shit they still shit. Something’s I watch maybe the first one depending on how long it is. They put everything in trailers now a days cause most kids have adhd. And by kids I mean anyone under 27.

Jason could be charged with assault for hitting drummer guy. Back in the 80's police offers could question a minor of parent/guardian whereabouts. Which they often did. But out right questioning I would say no. They read her her rights. Anything you say can and will be used against you in a court of law. Also as you know the right to legal counsel. Never say anything at any age without counsel. Hopper is one tough sob.

Bully girl should be thankful El didn't have her powers, she got off easy with a skate! Alas, Nikki, everything 'does' lead back to Star Wars! 😎😁

The Duffers have said that the Star Wars connection you mentioned is accurate. Not as a reaction necessarily but you should search up interviews with the actor who played Vecna and the design team. It’s primarily real visual effects rather than CGI.

Nikki, Steven is aware of the fact that u can have your mail forwarded from your previous address when u move, right? Still loving the way u 2 play off of each other, especially when he asks u what would u do in a haunting type situation. Your response usually makes me laugh. Like always, I enjoyed this reaction.😊

People saying she shouldn’t have, and do what, run off crying to Joyce or the teacher or the cops? She didn’t snitch and took the blame and ignored them and everything made it worse! Sometimes that’s the only way some people learn, sadly. And sadly kindness sometimes doesn’t work until they get hit back first. Violence shouldn’t exist but look at yourself first. Raising people to believe abuse and animal products which are abuse and many much worse things and horrifically bad for all, are good and normal. People see veganism, goodness and kindness to all, as a bad thing and threat And only accept and thereby express violence. Hurt people hurt all.

Steven is one hundred percent right -- this is a Stars Wars reference, and Paul Reiser is Yoda! Luke Skywalker: I can't keep the vision out of my head. They're my friends. I've gotta help them. Yoda: You must not go!

I'm more familiar with Paul Reiser as he was in Aliens, he wasn't an actor I had kept up with for whatever reason, even though I really like him, and I was afraid he would be like his slimeball character from Aliens in this, which to an extent he sort of was, but not too bad, but I really do like his scene with Eleven in the diner in this episode, I definitely feel this relationship between them now is paying homage to Yoda and Luke Skywalker, where Reiser is basically telling El, this is bigger than just Hawkins, if you go to your friends now you'll lose everything, but if you come train with me, you may able to save them, very similar to Yoda telling Luke, he's not ready to face Vader yet and could still be turned to the Dark Side if he goes to save to friends right now. With El basically being Luke, the potential ability to end things, but only if properly trained and ready. I really love things like this because it's paying tribute to something without going Full Spaceballs parody, but not being so subtle you just miss it completely, or just a throwaway line, because that conversation could have been done in a way where it just didn't matter, like he could have said, trust me kid, I'm like your Yoda or something like that, but it was done in very tasteful, creative way.
