Step inside the pitch meeting that led to Stranger Things Season 4!
Subscribe to the NEW CHANNEL for more Pitch Meetings: / @pitchmeetings
Stranger Things was an absolute phenomenon for Netflix when it hit their streaming service back in 2016. A whole lot has changed since then, but the show is just as popular as ever with their latest fourth season being ALL OVER SOCIAL MEDIA ALL THE TIME, and even sending a 37 year-old song back to the top of the charts.
Stranger Things Season 4 raises a lot of questions though. Like is Vecna from the Magical World of Wizarding? How did both Hopper and Brenner survive? Do loveable new characters always need to die? How did everyone manage to do exactly what needed to be done at the exact same time without communicating with each other? What happened during that two day jump?!
To answer all these questions and more, step inside the Pitch Meeting that led to Stranger Things Season 4! It’ll be super easy, barely an inconvenience.

The idea that he's the heart seemed like a stretch (Will was more filling that role and Mike kinda just passed it along). I just realized Mike is almost Stranger Thing's Ron Weasley. Good for comic relief and putting his foot in his mouth, thoughtless tantrums where he gets mad and makes the other characters feel like shit, but at the end of the day he's the best friend who's somehow there for you and for some reason you can't see your life without

They brought up that he was still alive back in season 2. I feel it's just assumed the demogorgon got distracted by someone else before biting his face off and he managed to crawl into a side room or something. - Hopper surviving is actually much more implausible {like downright impossible without blatant plot-armour} given that the end of season 3 showed the russian guards on the floor being vapourised.....So there was literally nowhere he could have jumped to and been safe. I really expected them to say that he'd jumped through the portal before it closed and somehow ended up coming out in Russia but they obviously felt that would be considered just as implausible. - Basically they wrote themselves into a corner they couldn't get out of so we've just got to suspend our disbelief and pretend that the shockwave that vapourised those russians only went in the one direction!

The annoying thing about Eddie’s death is that they only needed one tiny change so that it doesn’t seem like he’s just throwing his life away. Have it so, after they’ve resealed the trailer, the bats disengage and start heading back to the mansion. Now he has to get their attention again to make sure the bats don’t kill Steve, robyn and Nancy. Now his death directly ensured the success of the mission, rather than just being ancillary

I saw it as Eddie was killed by Jason. Since Jason and his goon showed up and fucked with Erica, she couldn't signal to Dustin and Eddie that they weren't needed anymore. To be fair my mum walked around on a broken ankle for a week insisting it was just a bad sprain before finally giving in to our nagging to go to the doctors, so I feel like it could probably be done. On the other hand I don't think she broke it so badly she could've bent her foot around to remove a locked manacle, walking/running on a break after doing that is probably a very different situation and I definitely question if that's something you could do with the ease that Hopper appeared to.

Hopper surviving those conditions in general without needing full leg amputation afterwards with broken ancle and 500% guaranteed frostbite on both feet (and likely legs and hands too) is just an insult to basic intelligence at this point. Plus hypothermia would have gotten him before that anyways. Also gotta love the fact that you could pretty much literally remove the entire Russian jail aspect of the series and the plot would not change one bit. Seems like two seasons mashed into one.

Actually it would be the other way around. Vecna first appeared in DnD in 1976, while HP appeared in 1997. A big part of Vecna's story is he is a lich; undead human that wouldn't have skin around the nose, and he was betrayed by someone he trusted and thrown into another realm. The Film Theorists did a good video predicting aspects of the fourth season based just on the original DnD material. Even this scene would be similar to Kas (the trusted friend who betrayed Vecna) cutting off Vecna's hand and weakening him before stabbing him to defeat him.

When Papa showed up I was thinking "hmm wasn't he dead?", but then I couldn't remember and let it slide but I am ashamed to admit that I had totaly forgotten about Eleven not beeing able to speak in the beginning of first season. Let's explain it due to trauma and it works, kinda. Still a really good season if you forget about the "hickups". Ps. I never once thought of Vecna as a Voldemorty kinda figure. More of a Freddy Kreuger kinda figure. There were loads of references to Freddy and even Robert Englund was in one episode and also one of the classic sound samples from the Freddy movies was recurring. Still a really good Pitch Meeting though. ;)

And then they put the Walkman on Max so she got out. But then in a later episode Number1 said that he had been too exhausted to continue with his fathers' hallucinations, and had passed out, and that was the reason why his father had woken up. But then they keep giving Max her Walkman to listen to...but that should not have had any effect what so ever. Or is that just me?

What? You actually saw Jurassic World Dominion? After watching the Pitch Meeting? Usually I watch the Pitch Meeting to see if a movie is worth seeing. This only applies to movies that I expect to be borderline or worse. For things I plan to watch anyway, Like Stranger Things, I watch the Pitch Meeting after. This saves me a lot of time and money. Jurassic World Dominion was a hard pass - the previous movie was trash, and Pitch Meetings confirmed that.

@@antiochus87 the pitch meeting made it hilarious. My daughter and I laughed so much during that movie. It may not have been the intent, but it was very enjoyable as a comedy. The pitch meeting rarely changes if I see something or not. If it does it’s almost always something I wasn’t planning on that the pitch meeting made sound funny enough to watch anyway. I just find it all enjoyable. I LOVE a pitch meeting for a movie I will never see. It’s funny to only have that reference. I enjoy one of something I’ve already seen. Even if I thought it was amazing it’s funny to see what they poke holes in. Doesn’t change my feelings about the movie or the pitch.
