Chocolate makes a chilli. And frankly, I've found that lime juice does too. You won't find that in any recipe, I just tried it once trying to figure out what was missing. Frankly, citrus is a missing ingrediant in many dishes and makes the difference between good food and great. I hope this helps even one person.

He wasn't wrong about "chocolate" in spaghetti bolognese, it just wasnt in the specific recipe they were looking for. I just looked it up because its such a weird ingredient that maybe it could be true. I found a site that read adding cocoa powder to bolognese during the cooking process ads sweetness to take the edge off the tomatoes, and the chocolate flavour really adds to the rich beef juices from the mince. And I found a couple recipes with chocolate/cocoa powder

@peterclarke7240

Or, and this does work, somehow... Peel a couple of carrots and drop them in unchopped. They absorb the acid from the tomatoes, while adding their carroty sweetness. Then just remove them once cooked, and you've got a killer bolognese or chilli sauce that's suitable for your lactose-intolerant friends.

Oh my god so this is the episode I saw a few weeks ago. I was just wandering downstairs to get food and glanced at the tv and saw everyone just sitting down and was so confused 😹😹

James wasn't far off, I've seen recipes of chilli with chocolate added to it 😂

I was given ghost chili sauce on a toothpick to taste one time without warning and the only thing that made the Heat go away instantly was eating chocolate! I was totally surprised

The host looks like the secret lovechild of George W Bush and Neil Patrick Harris.

His name is Alexander Armstrong, and voiced Danger Mouse (which is as weird a role as NPH's Dr. Horrible)

@@kirstymack2235 He's been all over TV for years, in a sketch show with Ben Miller, hosting Have I Got News, some sitcom no doubt. Ask the British population who they know best, Neil Patrick Harris or Alexander Armstrong and there's only one possible answer: Him off that thing.

In his defence, dark chocolate is in some chili con carne recipes for the reason he stated, so it’s not totally far fetched

Jens Acaster is one of the few people who have truly understood the aim of the (in fact, every TV-Show game) game: it’s not about winning, it's about going down spectacularly.
