It's a dirge, a song Dave said he wrote about the death of an old school friend by overdose. He sings it perfectly here, just the way he sang it on the Lola album. The line about "if I live too long I'm afraid I'll die" is a humorous tribute to the Hank Williams lyric that Dave thought was funny when he was young. Wish it was a better recording, with the music the way it was on the Lola album. A real fan of The Kinks never underestimates Dave Davies' guitar playing, harmonizing and solo singing, writing, stage presence and style, or his willingness to physically fight with his brother and co-founder of The Kinks, and deal with the behavior of bi-polar genius songwriter, singer, and showman Ray Davies when they weren't fighting! If he hadn't we wouldn't have had The Kinks from the 60s through the 90s. Thank God, Dave survived his stroke and came all the way back, relearning how to sing and play, and continue his solo career. God Save The Kinks!

@Giorgi Kareli-It's called technology. If you consider that this recording is 44 years old, it is actually better than 90% of the Beatles Bootlegs which were reportedly the first ones to come to the states. You want quality recordings> They exist but have been cleaned up by the manufacturer.

This Dave Davies composition was sung by him really flawlessly, despite the -to current standards- poor recording quality. Try this song at home. It's really hard to sing the second part of each of the 3 verses.
