This was one of the best zvp matches I have ever seen. The absence of corsairs is motives error in my opinion. As you stated, if protoss doesnt get into the 50+ probe count, they’re basically in a 2 base all in position. Zealot knew this and kept motives ground army busy with hydras and a few lurkers while killing probes almost the entire game. Motive just couldnt expand and produce units at the same time. Not to mention those mutas could go anywhere the protoss army wasnt. Its almost like zealot used his ground army as observers too, to make sure motive stayed engaged with those hydras/lurkers while he wore motives economy down with mutas. I think this game was brilliantly read and played by zealot. If motive would have gotten +1 air weapons and a group of corsairs he would have been able to keep the mutas pinned down. It would have forced zealot to either commit more to hydra/lurker or make scourge, which would have decreased how many ground units he could produce. The game winner here was definitely how he kept the probe count in the 40s. That was an incredible game. It almost reminds me of how terran uses vultures in tvp. Constantly rotating and wreaking havoc wherever the enemy army isnt. Thank you for casting all of these zealot games Arty, he is hands down the most entertaining zerg player to watch IMO

Also, a group of corsairs would have been able to not only slaughter those mutas, he would have been able to keep killing overlords and slow the pace down, which is what he desperately needed.

I watched some of Zealot's games on this channel and I somehow recognize his playful style: when he knows he has the upper hand, he can just keep spamming units inefficiently and make the most enjoyable cut out of the game. He could've upgraded the mutas wayy sooner if he was so committed to harassment or get some defilers to cover the lukers. Motive would've felt so pressured that even though he denied every attacks, he couldn't take any control of the map. If you guys haven't watched it yet, there's video also on this channel when Zealot vanished the count of probes from 51 to 19 by only one drop. ZeaLot is so good.
@kevinf.25562 күн бұрын
you cant preplan to late mutas, because its a reactive play to toss not making more than 1-2corsair thereby allowing z to go for mutas
@MeteCanKarahasan2 күн бұрын
Lol, mutalisks are not efficient in the late game. They are small units, just like zerglings! Therefore you shouldn't preplan for them, they only work in high numbers and early on. They are actually smaller than hydralisks, so it is a better unit to force the enemy into late game while you can continue playing the midgame.

The one thing I would suggest to Zelot (like he would ever listen to a non-playing noob like me) is to try to get overlords near his hydras and mutas and pick off some observers. Those lurker lines he was using to zone out the main goon army of Motive would have been absolutely devastating if he had picked off all the observers with a given goon ball. On the other hand, I have no idea what Motive was supposed to do as he was suffering that tempo disadvantage and basically fighting for his life just to defend for more than half the game!

I generally agree with Zelot's decision to go heavy into muta here. Until Protosses start showing a greater willingness to make a Dark Archon, they are just asking to get dismantled by heavy mutas.
@torathel232 күн бұрын
I feel like Motive didn't expect that continuation of heavy Muta production. Even when that group took out the main Nexas I feel like he didn't think it was a big enough group to actually kill it. When he lost that Nexas, he had that huge army in between the bases doing nothing while hydras killed all the probes at the 3rd. Maelstrom would have changed this game 💯.

What I found neat was how easily Mutas overwhelmed the canons which then kept Protoss at home. With less magic boxing and maybe an upgrade for damage I could see the Mutas sit on Protoss production like in a ZvT to make a sustained push difficult. Of course the magic is trapping them at home, but those canons just don't seem to fare as well against mutas as a Turret.

It shows the value of keeping a corsair air force through the game in a PvZ. A Mutalisk's air superiority has a massive impact in any matchup.
@wargumbyx15 сағат бұрын
they work because the map is so split up that wide armies like massed hydras cant spread out and the more you have the harder they are to move in lanes and the more vulnerable they are to storms. archons also suffer from having to constantly be repositioned because of their lack of speed. also since you have a lot of cliffs separating everything hydras can easily take advantage of dragoons having to bump and grind their way back onto defense

I thought the constant muta harass was a good tactic. It was just like Arty said, it kept pulling units back into the main and made the game chaotic from a positional pov. Though in my opinion Motive had no excuse not to make a dark archon. He could have had a dark archon and a few templars deal with the entire problem as opposed to like half or more of his army. Awesome game though. Thanks for the cast Arty!!

Everything from storm(shadow missiles) to hydrussians storming to mutaliskanders hitting the economy, the supply lines, the defensive works being prodded, the flanking and the counter-offensives. The only thing that didn't happen is the sudden GG, but Trump's about to get sworn in and we'll see if Zelenskyy has a rapid change of policy.
