Wow. A beautiful ballad in the vein of Def Leppard. It's very similar. If you want to find a really unknown band, look up "Slide" and their single, "Why is it a Crime" from 1989. Criminally underrated. The only reason I have the album is my Mom found it in a discard bin at a discount shop, and gave it to me as a Christmas gift. I didn't open it for 4 years, and was blown away.

Strangeways certainly is an AOR godsend. A boat load of amazing songs with amazing phrasing/lyrics, and feel. I'm afraid we'll never see another decade like the 80's as far as music..who knows though..History repeats.. Excellent rendition! A little different than your typical Jackson. Love your stuff bro!

Researching the band Strangeways, singer Tony Liddell (who's voice sounds like Tony Harnell!) was also in a band with Pat Thrall....who played in Pat Travers Band during their hayday! Crazy stuff!

Strangeways was SOOO underrated. Their first 3 albums are AOR classic. Native Sons is my personal favorite, but Walk in the Fire would've been perfect if there were more hard hitters (Those first two tracks are amazing!) because the guitar tone in this album is MASSIVE. Anyways, great cover! Band deserves way more recognition!

They sounded very American, almost very L.A.-ish. This album contained several real gems. Great vocals. Band indeed somehow never really made it, at least when it comes to sales figures. Those that have the record generally enthousiastically consider it as "finders keepers"....

Ben! How are you bud? Getting up to speed with your cover band mates for the April gig? I've been meaning to write you to see how things are going and I keep getting distracted. I'm sure you've been busy with work, rehearsals, new music for SM, covers etc. but also wanted to get your thoughts on the Def Leppard induction into the HoF. Great induction speech by Brian May and of course Joe did a bang up Job with the "acceptance." Not to mention how they freakin' killed it playing live like no other. Thank goodness for the forum so we could enjoy. At any rate, wanted to say 'hi', wish you well and tell you that I'm looking forward to more Super Monaco stuff! Also, if you want to hear a great young band on the come up with that awesome 80's vibe, be sure to check out Tempt if you haven't already. They have some great original material and awesome covers of DL. Animal and Women, namely, are quite good. Harrison, their lead guitarist, is stellar. The rest of the band is damn good too; they are pretty tight playing as a live band, and Zach's vocals are very impressive when he's at his best. All they are missing is YOU!! Another guitarist to be the Phil Collen to Harrison's Steve. Or vice versa if you prefer mate! But you already own the Jackson PC1!! ;-) Damn y'all could take over the music world with your playing and guitar tone to compliment Harrison and his sweet and pure Fender Strat tones. A man can dream right? Alright, enough rambling from me! Take care and good luck at that gig later this month!! Wish I could be there to see it! \m/ \m/

Good thanks! Just really busy with a lot of things so haven't had a chance to watch any of the induction stuff, but it's great the guys finally got in. I'll have to check out that band. Also I don't have a PC1, it's just a regular Jackson Dinky, and although it may be sacrilege to say, I don't like the PC1s at all haha. Many thanks again, I really appreciate the support. I hope I can share my experiences on here with the gigs too.

@@bwm5150 Oh my goodness, how could I get that wrong!? But the Dinky certainly resembles some of Phil's PC's doesn't it? I should know better, but I do know that you have a great set up with that Boss ME50 to produce those amazing tones!

Haha, you're not the first and probably not the last. The main differences are the neck wood and head shape. The closest PC1 to mine in Phil's green one with the glow in the dark Predator looking graphic on it. That looks like a regular Jackson.

@@bwm5150 Oh yeah, I know that one...he uses it for like one song, is it Animal? Or maybe Love Bites? IDK but it's one particular song from Hysteria he uses it. Obviously now he's way into his signature models, kinda like he's a bit into himself, but God love him. I don't mind a little vanity when he's such an amazingly friendly bloke. By most all accounts. As for the head shape, the PC1 kinda resembles that of a Fender Strat right? Where as your Dinky is a bit different? Most of your vids don't quite show the top of your axe so I'm having a difficult time picturing it now. What model are you playing here?

You may be thinking of his Bela Lugosi one that also glows in the dark. That's a traditional Jackson yeah. The more recent one, I think he calls it Dread, is built like a PC1 but has the different neck and head. Jackson heads are pointy and that's how I like my Jacksons, the only guitar with a Fender headstock should be a Fender (the guitar here is a Charvel, and my only complaint again is the head, but it's a great guitar other than that haha)

I record onto Logic, and used to use Pro Tools, which are Digital Audio Workstations (or DAW for short) that allow me to record my guitar and then adjust the volume and frequencies so that it sits nicely over the song. I mostly take out my bass frequencies, and notch a couple of mids up (I then notch those mids out of the song too) so that the guitar can be heard without being too overbearing or muddy.

So.. you open Logic, you have everything set in there so that the guitar is heard in a dominant way over the song in terms of volume, and you simply run the background song, let's say from Spotify, press play and start playing over it? That's how it is? I mean, what we hear is an ambient recording direct from the camera?

No, the backing song is imported onto Logic, and I record my guitar onto a separate track in Logic while listening to the song. I video myself at the same time and sync the two together. The audio and visual is from the same take but different sources.
