the art of life is keeping in rhythm with your age. Just keep right on to the end of the road. Hold those memories that make you smile. I remembered yesterday throwing little sweet rappers in a ball at me mate and saying 'Lightning bolt!' like a nerd and him getting pissed off at me. Just makes me laugh to remember. I get the pain though, it's just necessary to look back and be inspired rather than beset.

Seems like you are living a "Midnight Summers Dream".
@vishoek69 Жыл бұрын
This poem (song) describes a dream that the speaker had about an old man who couldn't sleep and spent the night watching the rain. The old man shared with the speaker his wisdom about the beauty and ugliness that exists in people, and how we can learn from our mistakes and pain. Although the old man has disappeared, his words have left a lasting impact on the speaker. The speaker suggests that if anyone else finds themselves unable to sleep at midnight, they can come to him and he will share the old man's wisdom with them. The poem seems to suggest that even though the world can be filled with both beauty and ugliness, it is possible to find meaning and understanding in the midst of it all. The midnight summer dream represents a moment of insight and clarity, and the speaker wants to share that with others who may be struggling to find their way.

Woke up on a good day And the world was wonderful A midnight summer dream had me in its spell. I dreamt about an old man Sat and watched the rain all night He couldn't sleep a wink as all the drops fell. He told me of the beauty Hidden in our foreheads He told me of the ugliness We show instead. And when we put a foot wrong do we learn From all the pain A midnight summer dream as he watched the rain. Then at midnight he poured another drink And bent my ear After midnight we sat up half the night Or maybe more And he began to tell me what it was all for I woke up in an armchair He had gone i don't know where Left me there to sit and look at the rain Don't remember much at all But his words were echoing A midnight summer dream and then wake again. Maybe I'll never find him Maybe he's gone forever Maybe I'll have to sit here Watching weather. One thing's pretty certain helped me Make it in the night Showed me somewhere else besides wrong and right And at midnight if you can't sleep Then I can bend your ear After midnight we'll sit up half the night Or maybe more And I'll begin to tell you what it is all for. Wake up on a good day and the world Feels wonderful Midnight summer dream has me in its spell.

I loved this song from the first time I heard it. They hardly played it on the radio and I must’ve heard it on a college radio station back then and record it on tape. Bc I remember listening to this song in the summer of 1983 on my Sony Walkman 2 with the minimal push buttons. Back when finding a great song was kind of hard and hard to hunt down. Each time I come across a Stranglers album or cd, I flip it over to see if this song was on it and I never seen it till this day. It must be on ep or something. Listening to this song is like floating on a cloud.

My father who sadly passed, used to listen to the Strangler's all the time. Followed them on tour. A man grounded and stout. A punk, but reflective. The line here "he is gone forever, maybe I'll never find him, we all have to sit here watching weather" just sums up the feeling. He's gone. There's no heaven we can sit and chat again, but we stay behind watching the rain.

I'm just trying to figure them out and my conclusion is they are/were a very down to earth, humble yet very talented group of artists. TRUE ARTISTS....not a contrived bone in who they are. TRUE. REAL. It's actually quite amazing. Most bands/musicians are putting on an act or at least a percentage of it is. Not these guys. Maybe it's why they never broke through big. ....I'm trippin'
