There’s no hyperbole about the deep bass production; it shakes your organs. Definitely use the ear plugs provided to anyone attending the latest tour shows.

Yes, if they are recommending ear plugs, you should definitely protect your hearing. We only have one set of ears and they are vital to be in top working order when listening to, or producing music. As for the low end, Dillinja has always been a master of this. His bass and drums are always so warm, thick and full.

Seeing The Valve Soundsystem is the only time I've seen people scrambling to find ear plugs because it was so loud, but they still wanted to be on the dancefloor as the bass was physically moving your body. And this was a time when earplugs weren't a thing in nightclubs, but they were part of the package when you got a ticket. Acid Track was one of my favourite tracks of his, he more or less stopped producing due to the ease of money DJ gigs were compared to producing.

You're right. It wasn't about trying to create the EXACT sound (though I did try to get close!), it was about seeing what could be had from a different synth, other than Serum and I think the results still came up pretty good and the created sound holds its own, as usable!

if you're struggling to get it sounding authentic you can use a 303 emulator and boost the low end ,you'll get very close the acid sound using a plugin emulating the old Roland box.
@STRANJAH3 ай бұрын
This is something I could definitely try out, but I was trying to think outside of the usual and see what I could come up with, outside of the 303. Not sure if the rumour is true or not, but I heard the original sound was actually made on a Nord Lead?
@kcat803 ай бұрын
@@STRANJAH interesting, I would have assumed he used a 303 and had a technique to boost the lows. the clones I've used do have a bit of weight in the low end, enough to give me room to process it for different types of music. it seems the most obvious way too ,but then dillinja was a bit of a scientist. I think the main thing could be the filter type which gives it more of a unique flavour? the original 303 used a specific filter but there's probably a way to get close in a wavetable plugin. great tutorial btw and its a great idea to try to get there with tools people may already have. thats an awesome acid style patch.
@STRANJAH3 ай бұрын
Hey, he very well could have used a 303 and did some of his usual processing in the EMU Sampler, his Mackie desk etc. No one really knows for sure, as I don't believe it was ever stated how he made it. The rumour I heard about it being from the Nord Lead, could very well be wrong, but I thought it was interesting to mention, in case it was accurate! Dillinja definitely was a bit of a tinkerer in the studio and absolutely pushed the boundaries of the equipment available at the time and to all of our benefits! Thank you for the kind words as well, you are most welcome for the video!

Decay doesn't do anything on non linear reverb, the length is controlled by the size knob, but as it's non linear, it doesn't lessen in volume (decay) over the given length, it's commonly used for getting that 80s gated drum verb sound
