Great vid! I just wanted to add something to take into consideration when deciding what's right for you. Boots are definitely great for park and wakestyle and I secretly wish I could still ride using my boots. However, I'd argue in any other discipline including big air it really slows progression down a lot. I've ridden boots from the time I was landing backrolls and doing somewhat consistent down loops until I was landing my first fairly big kite loops. It's true the board feeling in boots is so much better and really addicting actually. Simply because of the power control and connection with your board/water. It's comparable to snowboarding in away. I had to stop using them because of two really painful crashes where my board became an anchor as you said. My kite kept pulling with my board under water resulting in my harness getting pulled really hard and almost breaking my back. This type of crash can be really damaging to your spine. The strain on your knees and hips is also way bigger. After starting to ride straps once again I noticed I was progressing way quicker because I wasn't afraid to try new things. This is because the consequences of crashing with straps are way more forgiving. After kicking out the board there is very little chance of getting injured and if the crash is too hard your feet usually come out anyways. I now ride only straps and find you have an added type of control with your ankle mobility. It's not like you'll progress to the next level by buying boots it feels way better when riding but if you aren't doing wakestyle I don't think that's worth it. Anyways that's just my two cents!

The absolutely best way to ride in between straps and boots was Slingshot joint from 2013. I still ride them and many people asking me where they can get them from... Would wonder why Slingshot stopped produce such a uniq product on a market? And if they dont wanna make some new version? You get a decent support super comfort and still can kick the board away... Friend of mine had knee problems from boots so moved to joints and so stoked about!

Your riding inspired me to ride boots, bought the first Naish Momentum as well. Thinking of heading back to straps though :) !

Thanks for the video ! As you mentioned at the end, i really feel that lately you’ve been into those really « practical » videos about kitesurfing. Much appreciated here! Could you do a video about the post production / edition with your gopro footages? I think it could complete your previous video about the gopro nicely

I lost my first board yesterday, so I was considering boots. But I guess I shouldn’t kite in side/offshore conditions instead of transitioning to boots, even with friends that can manage those conditions... I’ll get another strap board until I feel ready for boots.

Hi Sam, awesome video. Are your bindings true to size? I just bought a pair of rads in 46(which is my size) and they are to small. Thanks

Ever ripped fasteners from your board using boots? I know I have... Had to drill them out and drive a stainless bolt with a large flat head from the bottom all the way through the board to repair...

Request... You have the ability to actually explain things in a way that normal people understand 😂 Now to the request: landing bigger jumps... can you make a jump video please!!! I constantly fall when landing. Like for the last 6 months. Anything higher than about 6-7m. I just dont know what i am doing wrong.
