Some protests in India like the farm law protests...anti CAA etc... center upon disrupting and attacking the economy and/or the image of the country... Which harms the country in a multifold manner... Such protests must be quelled before they start... And a message must be sent that protests must be done in the designated spots and not be disruptive...

I would recommend Yu Hua's "China in Ten Words" if they want to know about the 50s and 60's era in China. I consider Yu Hua to be one of China's finest writers

For us Indians to be interested in understanding China, we simply have neither time nor inclination! 90% of Indians are 99% of the time busy calling all sorts of names to Modi; 5% are proclaimed Bhakts (and by definition dumb!) and rest are fence sitters. Of course, when it comes to national elections, most of us go and vote for Modi. We are a nation busy within and our idea of the world is just our caste, district, state, region and the country and nothing beyond. It is to the credit of foreign policy professionals like Gokhale that we can now read China through Indian eyes. Thanks Nitin for interviewing Shri. Gokhale!

It is easy to say Soviet union ( Gorbachev) did mistake putting political reform before economic. Just think, with whom he will do business at the peak of Cold war? American companies?, European companies?? No way ... China's position is very different, it is not America's No 1 enemy in 80's and moreover US wanted to pull China from Communism ( in the hope)...so in Sovive it is not possible economic reforms before political one...

Did you get a chance to read about Nixon's racist comments about Indians in general and Mrs. Gandhi's in particular. And that criminal Kissinger's part in convincing Mao how nasty we Indians were and what a lovely people Pakistanis were. Both Indian and China are developing countries. Both of us have a huge population to take care of. If one of our countries gave a third of our population to the United States, it would collapse.

China hasn't released their population census from 2020. It was due for release in April 2021... Either the population has declined to below 1.4 billion or the birth rate has declined year on year & shows the harbinger of CCP's challenge of coming demographic collapse. Without demographic consumption economy the GDP increase cannot be sustained. & the export income will collapse due to demographic collapse in most Western countries. The only countries with balanced demographic are in southeast Asia (Indonesia, Thailand, Vietnam,) & India & Mexico... My foresight indicates China may struggle to be number one GDP economy even by reference to PPP purchasing power parity
