I appreciate the in-universe lore of this game in having all of this be in Cape Canaveral and thus all of this experimental technology is so public :) Plus it’s a lot more fun than my game that I started in the middle of the desert since it’s…you know…in the middle of the desert. Loving the series!

I thought about launching from White Sands as well, but you have to build additional facilities and hire staff.

Just started RP-1 after years of playing stock and was completely overwhelmed. Your videos and playlist have been a godsend.

Thanks. Just keep in mind this is my first time through too.

Hi Mike Aben, I was away for work for a while but now I’m home and catching up. Very funny intro, I think the moon landing would have been more interesting if Neil had been baked but NASA would disagree. A pilot associate of mine told me that big planes make their final approach at mere 3 degrees. I’ve tried this with AA by setting the vertical motion -> FPA to -3 and adjusting throttle to keep the plane level or slightly nose up. You can do the same with FBW where you position the nose where you want it and use the throttle to adjust the angle on the prograde vector and I’m pretty sure that’s what “velocity pitch angle” is. Gorgeous plane I hope to see it again.

Thanks. I'll have to try that.

I am loving this series and have had so much more success in RP-1 after following your lead and modeling my craft after real world analogs. Fun fact, on the real life U-2 those pods are not external fuel tanks, but hold electronic sensors and equipment which can be modularly swapped out. .

Also fun fact, pilots of the U2 also have to watch their climb out as the lift and thrust performance on takeoff can over-stress the airframe and rip off the wings before they even get to the end of the runway. I think one pilot is on record saying they could reach 10k feet before the end of the runway.

Cool. Thanks. I just hope you hired more researchers than me early on.

Also if runway length is a concern, the SLF runway is a viable runway for RP-1

Good to know. I should drop a waypoint on it.

Would it be a bad idea to put a 4th landing gear under the cockpit? That would probably prevent the cockpit getting destroyed by a runway nosedive. But then, I'm not sure I really understand center of mass on airplanes haha
@MikeAben5 ай бұрын
I don't think it would be a bad idea, but I eventually get a hold of landing that plane. It's just about not coming in too fast.

Hey mike actually U 2 Doesn't have landing gears on wing plus it have two landing gear on front and back

Is it possible to put the elevators on the brakes action group to "pull back" and raise the nose while braking? If not, maybe doing it manually would help.
@MikeAben6 ай бұрын
Definitely possible, as is adding separate spoilers.

I don't remember the CO2/Air-Launch conversation on discord....

Found it. It was on March 18, though it quickly spun into how many researchers should be hired.
