Thuong did her best 5 minute uphill cycling effort. She now loves to STRAVA KOM Hunt and recently took one of her more competitive QOM segments. But, I think she's starting to let things get to her head a little bit 😂

Funny, but below the surface, competition gradually makes people worse in my view. Competition I think makes most things in life worse. I like sport to see what humans are capable of, because that interests me from a scientific perspective. But the rest of it really doesn’t appeal to me, and increasingly bothers me.

And those innovations which were not profitable because they were just experimenting and seeing what happened then going into companies which profit off them and make small iterations over many years? BOOOOO But fr, competition can definitely be unhealthy - I just don't think that's universally the case. If you let being the best become your value then yes, you will likely fall into an unhealthy cycle. But it's a different thing to have a rival always pushing you to reach that next level of capability. It can be an immensely rewarding relationship if you don't let it fall into toxicity.

@@christill Hard agree with this, just to be clear. Collaboration > competition every time. I think that maybe in the context of this subject matter, a healthy rivalry might actually share some important characteristics with collaboration.
