I just made this strawberry gelato earlier (in the freezer now), and it is definitely very delicious and flavorful. Would be making more once we finish up the one I just made. Please note though that I used Lakanto Golden Sweetener as a substitute for sugar. My strawberries weren’t very sweet so I had to add more sweetener than the recipe calls for to both the custard and the strawberries. I also added 1/4 tsp of salt and 1/4 tsp of pure vanilla extract after sifting the custard. Adding some strawberries before it was done churning was a perfect idea because I like seeing little chunks of strawberries in my ice cream. You guys gotta give this a try. Thank you for sharing.

Oh my gosh, that looks so yummy!! Thanks for sharing the recipe, Anne! By the way, who knew that there was a name for "macerating strawberries!!"

You know, my mom always used the word "macerating" when she would make strawberry shortcakes, so I just always knew it--but I'm so glad that it's new to you (look at me dropping some food knowledge, haha!) About to put my crust in the oven--excited for our collaboration!!

@@AnnesFamilyRecipe I have never known that word - thanks for the new tip! One time my husband was "macerating" strawberries, but he accidentally put in salt instead of sugar (the jars looked the same). It was awful!! My cake is done, I'm letting it freeze a bit more before I take the photos. I'm excited for our collaboration, too!! :)

I did not know there was a Kitchenaid ice cream maker attachment! I actually have a little ice cream maker we found for free but if it ever bites the dust, I'll have to find that Kitchenaid part!

Yes! I got it for my wedding, I think, and rarely use it--this was a delicious excuse!
