I have made this recipe for years only I didn't like crushing the pretzels because they polvarized or putting the cool whip/cream cheese spread on top of them because they would stick to the topping. No fun working with pretzels until I tried your recipe. I was amazed at how easy it was to put it together because you gave me some great new tips. 1) Mixing the melted butter and sugar mix with the crushed pretzels in the pan rather than pouring into a cooking glass dish and then mixing it in. 2) Using a scooper to distribute the Cool Whip mix all over the glass baking dish and then spreading it. Omg! What a breeze! No messy pretzels sticking to it. 3) Making your jello mix first so that it gives it time to cool and thicken a little before putting in the strawberries and then adding it over your Cool Whip/cream cheese topping. Although my pretzels still polvarized on the bottom side when I crushed them on top, I can live with that. Overall, these tips made it enjoyable to make! Thank you, Natasha! I always enjoy making your recipes!

We made this for a church potluck, and it's tasty for a summer time treat. There are different variations you can do with it, like raspberry jello with raspberries, orange jello with mandarin oranges, and peach jello with sliced peaches. For Thanksgiving one year, we made it with cranberry jello and cranberries.

My Grandmother made this for years and it was always good, with any kind of berry, cherries, or other fruit. If you want to make it for Easter, Christmas or other holiday, use a bit of food coloring to the cream cheese mixture. Then you can have a green/red dessert for Christmas, a pastel for Easter, etc. One of my favorites is to use fresh sliced peaches in a matching Jell-O mix. The crust is also good if you add in a bit of chopped toasted nuts. Just some thoughts.

I made this for a church picnic a couple of years ago and it was gone in a blink of an eye. Then we started cleaning everything up and I started looking for my 9x13 glass dish, couldn't find it any where, finally this little ole lady came walking up with the dish. She had been sitting behind the building licking the glass. Said that that was the best dessert she had ever had. I gave her the recipe!

I’ve perfected this recipe thanks to Natasha. You’re a great teacher, Natasha! I leave out the jello, thinly slice the strawberries and cover the cream cheese mixture like you typically would, but now you’re gonna top it with another layer of pretzel crisp the same way you made the bottom layer. I’m just not a big fan of the jello. I believe the better flavor and taste is without the jello but with more buttery sugary salty pretzel.

Hi Natasha. I have been making this recipe for years. In fact I’m famous for it with my family. The only thing I do different is I beat heavy whipping cream instead using cool whip. I don’t add extra sugar to the crust. It is such a refreshing recipe. I just made it last weekend. Thank you for all your recipes. You are awesome!!!!!!!

My mom has made this for years with raspberries and raspberry Jell-O. We just made this recipe with the strawberries. It's cooling in the fridge, but there's hardly any Jell-O on top. I have a feeling it is very important to get the cream cheese mixture all the way to the sides. Like you said, "Create a seal" We'll find out later, but I bet a lot of the Jell-O seeped down into the pretzels. Thanks for yet another AWESOME recipe!

But, I'm excited to see this version because I have friends who have nut alergies and was afraid of making this without the nuts as I didn't now how it would taste. And now, I know that I can make this for them and eliminate the nuts and it will still be delicious. :-) Plus, I have never made this with fresh strawberries. It may sound boring, but my family used to love what we called, "Pudding Dessert." It's the same idea as the Strawberry Pretzel Salad, except that the crust is a flour/crushed-chopped almonds/butter layer (baked also). Add to that, the same cream cheese/ whipped cream layer. Top that off with chocolate pudding with instant coffee (or expresso) mixed in, and then, add a final layer of regular whipped cream (Cool Whip is fine). Garnish how you would like with chocolate sprinkles or shavings. We've also made it with butterscotch pudding (no instant coffee added, of course), but I would guess that this same basic recipe idea could be used for any type of pudding that one likes. It's also popular at potlucks and all. :)
