I am not claiming ownership over the music or the music video that I am reacting to in this video. I am reacting to the video/music to give criticism and point out different aspects of the original content to create dialogue and intrigue for the KZbin community. My goal is to spread awareness of the original creator/artist through humor or commentary to promote the original work while adding entertainment to reach more audiences. I believe I have added enough original content to the original video to make it a different video and to not be a substitute for the original piece of work.
I am not trying to rip off the original artist in any way.

I'm a 44yr old mom and my teen daughter introduced me to SKZ (StrayKids) Nov 2021 and I've never looked back. I binged their music and content. Fell in love with their music and especially their personalities. My daughter and I went to their MANIAC concert in Atlanta in March. Best concert I've ever experienced. StrayKids music and content is a part of my daily life now. They are my happy place. My chronic depression subsides when I watch anything StrayKids related. I know that sounds crazy but they really are just the most, genuine, relatable, kindest, funniest artists I've ever come across. They aren't afraid to expose their heartfelt personal struggles with mental health or anger and frustration through their lyrics and they're not afraid of being their goofy embarrassing selves on camera either. There are many other artists whom I adore as well so I'm not comparing them to StrayKids or StrayKids to them. StrayKids are just in a league of their own for me personally and they've captivated me and made me feel special and valuable as I'm sure other groups have made their fans feel as well. And that's a beautiful thing for anyone to be able to experience ❤. You should definitely check out the StrayKids survival show to see their beginning struggles to debut. Also watch the Kingdom competition because it's incredible and you get to see SKZ and ATEEZ and many other awesome groups compete to be crowned the kings of kpop. ATEEZ is definitely an excellent group to check out! They are also besties with StrayKids in real life. They are my 2nd favorite group behind StrayKids. I love their music, dynamic, humor, talent, struggles...everything about them. They are fantastic and definitely deserve more recognition just like Dreamcatcher does. ATEEZ and Dreamcatcher are definitely underdogs that deserve more accolades and attention 💯 %! Tiger JK is considered the "Father of K-hiphop". He moved to the US for several years as a kid and befriended people in the underground rap scene where he gained experience and knowledge in hip hop. Then he brought that knowledge and experience with him to Korea where he had a group called "Drunken Tiger" which debuted in 1999. He's a huge inspiration to Korean Hip-hop artists today. It's truly an honor for him to agree to collab with StrayKids. They were so grateful and humbled for this epic opportunity to collab with their idol. Tiger JK rarely gives interviews but last year he went on Eric Nam's The Daebak Show. It's an absolutely fascinating interview. His life story could literally be a movie. Thank you for sharing. I was diagnosed with Clinical Depression, GAD, and bipolar disorder over the years and have struggled all my life as well with it. That's where I think that this group is so beneficial is because of not only incredible songs but the message of hope and empowerment. I didn't grow up with a lot of encouragement or guidance so to see these young guys look out for everyone by teaching positivity makes me feel so much joy and hope for future genenrations. I saved that link and will watch it. Thank you!

As someone with an anxiety disorder, first time I heard this song I cried. There was just something to intense about it, and after reading the lyrics, I understood why it connected so much with me. Still my favorite song they've done, though "Double Knot" is up there pretty high as well, if you've not checked it out yet.

The more I've looked at the lyrics the more I love them and as a fellow person who suffers from anxiety and depression the line "My head hurts" is what tugs at me. It's so sad because I've been on so many meds over the years and can relate to that and also not knowing what is happening and fear of what I could become because of meds.

@@the_talking_muffin thank you for sharing a bit of your own experience. Truly I think that's what music/Kpop is; finding that common ground between artist and fan. And what makes fans so 'big' is their shared experiences. I've never "stanned" a thing in my entire life, until I stumbled across kpop. Then I found a community, not just of folks who enjoy the music, but of people who just Are People, dropping their barriers, being themselves... and relating to each other through their musical interests or even uninterest. I've only ever found a 'community' like this through gaming and MMOs (namely World of Warcraft, a community I've been apart of since 2006)

Stray Kids Battleground is heavily rock influenced. Editing to add rock type songs I found after going through my entire Stray Kids playlist: Battleground (Japanese song so no lyrics on the video, closest to hard rock with heavy guitar) Again and again (2PM *super boy band poppy vibe* song that Stray Kids covered where they put more of a harder rock vibe on with a lot of guitar - it's on KBS Kpop channel but with no lyrics) Top (Japanese song they made for Tower of God anime; no lyrics on Japanese videos tho; rock with guitar) Slump (another Japanese song they made for Tower of God anime; no lyrics again; slower rock, but heavy guitar) Hall of fame (off newest album; song changes up at times but has rock vibes in sections with heavy guitar) ITEM (off newest album; not extremely rock and is definitely unique, but does have heavier guitar in chorus) Victory song (rock vibes, but no guitar if I remember right tho; they did a gladiator version at the MAMA Awards, but I still don't think there's guitar in it) Grrr (older song when they still had the 9th member; some rock vibes)

seriously, as non-native speakers and listener (myself) their Japanese tracks go so hard that when they release a 'korean' version, I don't know how to feel about it. "The Sound" is a good example...I love the Japanese track so much!!! I still like the korean version, but something about the delivery is lost when translated to their (mostly) native language.

I totally understand people who say that Stray Kids "changed" their lives, bc I'm Stay since debut (since the reality show actually) and I know I am who I am today in large part because of them. I was 13 when I found them out through a friend and I've been being Stay with pride ever since, I don't know if you know, but we're in the middle of an event called StayWeek right now, it's the "week of our anniversary" (the fandom was named Stay on the 1st of August) and this week leading up to the 1st is full of concerts, videos and even some songs and surprise MVs that the boys prepare and themselves for us, it's a lot of fun and this year we're turning 5, so I can say that I've been Stay for 5 years!! It's been a long and sometimes painful journey for many reasons, but I say Stray Kids definitely shaped me, they built my self-esteem with My Pace, The Tortoise and The Hare (which I highly recommend if you like experimental and kinda weird music) and Grow Up, they taught me to have personality and fight for what I want with District 9, Miroh and countless others. I went through one of the most important phases of my personal development with these guys screaming like that in my ear and I don't regret a thing, I'm too young to think about kids now, but for sure, in the future, they'll grow up listening to Stray Kids!!! I'm glad you found yourself at Stayville, it can be a crazy ride sometimes with so many things these guys do at the same time, but in a way it's still home :) About the longer videos, don't worry, STAYs are like proud mothers, any content you want to deliver, we'll consume like crazy, give it to us and we'll be happy! And feel free to repeat the MV as many times as you like, we don't care, it's understandable that some videos are just hard to take in, with the lyrics, the music and the video itself, react in your time, look, pay attention, give feedback, comment and share theories, we love it!!!! Also Fun Fact: most of Stay are also girl group fans, I don't know if it has anything to do with the ridiculous feud that always happens between fans of same gender groups but many Stay are also Once or came through Twice (since Bangchan, the leader of SKZ, is a great friend of Sana and everyone has a good relationship), SKZ is known for both Stay and Once as Twice's younger brother hahaha So it's not that surprising your attachment to SKZ, Stayville has a lot of people who classify themselves as "half GG stan half Stay" 😂😂

Stray Kids is calling us. Like we’re really all “Stray Kids” inside. Side Effects era made me cry because this was the time the group was having a hard time (w the one member leaving) and seeing them cry in front of the stage, saying, “please dont leave us” to their fans is devastating. They’re just so close to my heart.

This is one of my fav songs of them EVER. Stray Kids is the first group in kpop that used psycho trance genre in their music. They've got backlash after releasing it cause people didn't understand this, but the thing about this song is that not only the lyrics represents mental illness but also the music. It has to be like that, noisy, angry, headspinning, strange. The man's voice in the background is talking about all the side effects people can get living their lives in the different way that society wants, like depression, anxiety, insomnia etc. like he is reading the side effects of using pills. These are side effects of life. This song is incredibly powerful and iconic. Only now people start to appreciate artistry of it. Tho moons represents two different roads Stray Kids could've chosen. They got their first succes with "Miroh" and then they could choose to make a simple music for many people, so the road to the succes would be straight and easy (so they could choose the bus) but they chose another road. The road not taken before. Not commercial and not easy. They created Side Effects and got massive hate for this song. And they knew it would be like that, that people listening to normal kpop wouldn't understand this, but they did it anyway, they chose different road, wild and harsh. They got many fights during it, many hard times, many wrong turns, but they wanted to do it anyway, because they felt it was right. They could just sit in the bus and enjoy the ride, lead by someone else, but they've chosen the different, wild road they needed to go trough only by themselves, but they had hope that at the end it would bring them sth bigger and they would be more mature and true. And they did that. They used to sold 1.5k albums in the first day for their couple first albums, now they're selling 2.5M albums in the first day. The fandom grew so much and they became so popular it's insane. And not because they were shown to our faces by the company, but because we found them by ourselves and understood how unique they and their music are. That they are not just another kpop band made in the Korean factory, but they are true, authentic and they have sth more to say other than "I love you, be my girl". Theirs songs are mostly about growth, struggles, mental illness and other themes young people can relate to. They write them by themselves, so the things they want to say are true. And many people can see that. My all time favourite song of them is Hellevator, their predebut song. The lyrics in this song are the best lyrics I've ever heard in any song. I was so amazed by what they had to say I fell into their black hole and can't get out for 3 years already. And I've never been into kpop before, in my 37-old life. I used to be rock and metal fan before but since I found these incredible talented and sincere guys, I can't imagine my life without them now. Greetings 🥰

I'm glad you found this. Fwiw, if you ask us seemingly vague questions like "What's the SKZ vid with an atv in it?" -- a lot of us will be able to help just based on tiny details like that. We would have told you that it was Side Effects if the atv was in use, and Astronaut if the atv was in the background. We mentally catalogue this stuff. Don't be worried to ask! _Someone_ among us likely knows the answer, regardless of the question.

My all time favorite title track from Stray Kids hands down. I also prefer GGs but when a group goes as hard with a psytrance track, I'm in. I agree and think a lot of the male audiences that are or are not a kpop fan gravitate towards SKZ once they listen to their stuff. It's addictive, it's hard not to love a good headbanger or hype song. Funny note: this song also got a lot of flack from the kpop community when it first came out. It was called " the worst kpop song ever " But we all know a lot of kpop fans all just say that for anything that isn't safe pop music.
@the_talking_muffin
@the_talking_muffin 11 ай бұрын
"safe pop" I've never heard that term, but immediately know what you mean. Safe pop is good, but these groups with undeniable talent and alternative sounds and lyrics are what I look for. The way they describe the side effects are so interesting and the way they bring it into their dance is so unique.

Of course their music drew me in initially, but later I discovered all this content. From Chan's room to SKZ talker etc. All of this combined (plus a lot more) makes me stay and a Stay😅.

I really relate to this comment. Every member of SKZ is 'me' in a lesser sense. Especially as an older STAY, I can empathize with their ages and their maturing. What really stands out to me is just how delightful, charming and F**ing funny they all are!! Like it is impossible to watch a Stray Kids vlog/talker/go/variety without just laughing out loud!! I love their music so much, but it's their personalities and innate wholesomeness that really drew me in. They're just solid human beings.

@@Tristana.Keauna Yep, yep and yep! Additionally, I love the way they're comfortable being that silly. Unfortunately, I never had that freedom around family (with some exceptions) and although I later made friends, I still never had this bond that I see the Kids having. So, in a way, I think we're all growing up with them a bit (don't know how else to explain it).

Honestly, I'd literally easily make this list a 100 songs but for now these are enough, you'll find the other songs on your own time. Like stays like to say, you don't find SKZ, SKZ finds you; just like that, their songs also find you on their own. They literally have songs for every part, occasion, phase, of your life, and you still can't get enough. Other than the above I'd also recommend you to check out their new album but i think you'd have already done that by now. Looking forward to what you react to next!

This song gave me so much anxiety when it came out (I’m a debut stay, been with them for 5 years!), especially the screaming and heavy pulse beat, I literally jumped when i heard the first scream. I loved it so much, it gave me such a rush of adrenaline and it’s still one of my top 5 favorites, even after all the top class music they’ve released since then! I have my own story about how Stray Kids affected my life and supported me through some tough depression. The messages they send in their songs (especially the earlier ones) were so meaningful to me. I think it was My Pace that clinched it for me and that was only their 2nd comeback. As others have said, Tortoise and the Hare is a must-listen, it’s highly experimental and isn’t everyone’s cup of tea, even among stays. I would recommend Time Out if you like a more upbeat rock guitar sound, it has a more lighthearted atmosphere tho. Back Door has a killer bass line. Then Christmas EveL is just fun to watch any time of the year. I look forward to your next video!

Ah, look at how young they were! Baby SKZ! This song remains my favorite, and it's what drew me to them. They have such a range of genres and this style is my favorite (though I seriously love their rap). I also recommend Heyday if you like rap at all, and The Tortoise and the Hare if you like oddball stuff. It's seriously addictive and I love it so much. I'm all here for strange songs, lol. I also really love Charmer. Love the international music for that one. And Muddy Waters has a bit of New Orleans blues mixed in. Seriously, I love how they experiment with their sound.

I'd also add in Freeze and Domino, Domino doesn't have a full MV only a teaser but I recommend looking at the dance practice because they go hard. A song that is hit or miss even between stays (from what I've learnt so far) is The Tortoise and the Hare, its very much more of a experiemental sounding song, a bit weird but in a good way.

If you go back and check out the lyrics for "Cheese," you'll see what I meant in another comments section about it being a borderline diss track and a full-blown clapback (from the clapback album NOEASY) to their haters. The lyrics reference some of the most common criticisms and ignorant hate comments thrown at SKZ -- including how "Side Effects" and "God's Menu" in particular are used to dismiss them as just making pointless noise music.

The ‘Freud’ you heard is the side effects list at the end of medication commercials. ‘Side effects include insomnia, headaches, etc.’ Also just google Stray Kids Lore and you will find another rabbit hole to get lost in for hours if not days. Apparently, the Side Effects video shows Hyunjin being replaced by a alternate reality double, Han was replaced in Hellevator, I.N is a clone (can’t remember the video). In the Circus video they actually watch their doubles put on a circus act. Have popcorn and time ready to go before you start your journey into the lore. And, if you like unusual, watch The Tortoise and The Hare (only lyrics vid available)

It has been fun watching you check out stray kids! They have definitely rocked my world! About one year ago, I was introduced when my husband was diagnosed with terminal cancer.Stray kids, their music, the lyrics them as people have all been a wonderful retreat from reality. I really love what they stand for And they are so versatile. I think there are a lot more of their songs that you are also going to love. I wanted to mention that another boy group that is aggressive is ATEEZ. They debuted a little after stray kids, but they have similar sounds. Both of these groups and 18 more are coming to California next week. I can’t tell you how excited I am to go see them! Top Line is my new favorite. It has Tiger JK and is aggressive Rap. I am a 54 year old mom of four who has never liked rap at all. My daughter giggles at me because Changbin is my bias! I have never heard anything like that before! However, Han is really fighting to be my bias wrecker. Have Fun!!!

Thank you so much for sharing your story with me. I can't imagine what you have went through and I'm so sorry to hear about your husband. I'm so glad that you found Straykids as a result to help with the pain. I've read so many comments about families being united by KPOP and this group in particular. I understand and have encouraged people to listen to the lyrics and take them to heart. I have been alcohol free for 2 years and it is thanks to finding KPOP. I've found that thing that touches my heart and this is it. So I'm so glad that you didn't fall into a terrible addiction as a result of what you've been through. It happens so often and so easily. It's so heartwarming and inspiring as I learn more of their songs and pay attention to the lyrics and take them to heart. I'm 42 and have been very proud of myself and so many other people that have told me that they are around my age or older and have never listened to anything like these bands, but were able to put aside prejuidice, bias, etc...to open up to new experiences even as we get stuck in our ways with age. I get delighted now to realize how wrong I was when I didn't want to give these guys a chance. It's liberating when you can get rid of some of those walls that have been built up and will continue to step out of my comfort zone and will of course be reacting to more as soon as I'm well. I haven't been able to shake this cold, but I'm checking out Ateez and more Straykids and hope to hear more inspiring stories like yours. Thanks again and I pray for the best for you and your family.

There's a performance video this that's even better. The voice is someone reading side effects (of a medicine?). So glad to have you in the STAY family! Stray Kids has touched people in a way a lot of other groups have not. Don't know what it is....... it's some voodoo $hit. U kind of have to follow their storyline from the beginning. Maybe someone below will or has explained it. I'm too tired lol.

Love your honest and genuine reactions. They are such a resilient group who have worked very hard to be where they are today. Extremely talented but also humble. They cover so many genres and are always looking for new ways to present their music, and to grow as people. I love their song: tortoise and the hare. Also easy, double knot, lonely street and Stop. Thanks for reacting to them.

Thank you so much and I am happy you found the m/v you where looking for. I will try to keep it short on this comment unlike my other books. First got to say Welcome to Stayville in the Stray Kids Kingdom. We love longer videos and it with stray kids you have to watch them twice because there is to much going on. I love the ratings. District 9 is underrated to me. I look forward to more reactions of stray kids. I love to see your reaction to a 2023 deep dive guide The Rise of Stray Kids its 20 min long from Johnathan Miller Music. I love dream catcher, Black Pink, G-Idle and more but for listening to music on a daily basis its usually male groups unless its Bibi. I love Bibi she is a solo idol. I don't know a lot about her but love her music and vocals. I found her through a song featuring her and Ateez as back up dancers. It was just a fun song and m/v. My public One of a Kind k-pop YT playlist is over 450 songs mostly males with a few songs special female songs I like. I tend to love the more blues, Latin vibe or rock songs but the list is really diverse in music genres. the list is contains songs that are one of a kind videos or songs without a video. Of course almost all of stray kids songs are mixed in there. ok enough said. Here is the guide link I think you will like even if you watch it off camera. kzbin.info/www/bejne/hoqQiH2mat9psMU

they perform live a different version of the song that actually has a darker heavier sound. Sort of a halloween like synth beat and drop? I don’t know how to explain music, but it’s awesome and they have a performance on their official youtube. Side effects beyond live. You should check it out even if you don’t film a reaction because I think you’d like that version too.

I was a metal head, didn't like K-pop, but Stray Kids aren't like any other gro I've heard. They always mix it up so you never know what you'll get, and I like that bc it keeps me interested. They're also amazing songwriters and producers. To think they wrote Hellevator when the oldest member, leader Bang Chan, was just turning 20. I've never seen a song that doesn't have 3RACHA, the producing/writing team on it. I'm sure you've been told but 3RACHA is our main producing unit. They make up leader Bang Chan, and main rappers Han & Changbin. Each members of 3RACHA has 134+ KOMCA, which keeps track of writing and producing in K-pop. Stray Kids aren't just good musicians, they're good ppl. They truly care about us and each other. The lyrics speak to many of us, and have gotten me through hard times. The way they write about struggles we all go through makes them very relatable. And they're not even a little arrogant, oftentimes downplaying their talents. Awaken reminds me of a rock song so maybe check that one out! But welcome to our fandom. Many of us found stray kids while going through tough times, and I'm one of them. So many of their songs make me feel heard and understood

Thank you for your kind words, recommendations, and story. I found KPOP in general as a result of going through rough times. My first group was Twice and they still mean a lot to me because the huge mental shift that took place once I accepted that I could allow myself to like them.....I hope that made since. I will put Awaken on my list. I'm not sure that anyone has suggested that one yet.

BB might be BB girls. New rendition of brave girls but they don't sound like Dreamcatcher. At least I don't think they do. Billie is a good one but also not quite Dreamcatcher. But they are good and their concept is good and they are probably with nmixx the most talented and original of the 4th gen gg. Some Everglow songs are dreamcatcheresqe. Personally I also liked Loonas PTT but I am the odd one out on this one. Ateez is fun and hard and they like to mix interesting sounds. I love their experiments like The Real, Fireworks, Halazia, Guerrilla, Dejavu, Wonderland - all are grand (for the lack of better word) and all sound different but have this distinct feeling of being made for an opera. I am a die hard stay and I would 100% recommend Ateez. I also love one particular song by TXT - Frost. I wish skz would sing it.

The two moons are part of their lore. This video is one of the most lore-heavy and important episodes in the storyline. So while the details make sense in context (the key, the surveillance and camera switches, the two versions of SKZ, the distant cityscape in the sky, the idyllic fields, etc), they'll be meaningless without knowledge of the ongoing story. If you ever end up watching all the videos, though, you'll see how deeply connected this one is to multiple vids that came before (especially Hellevator) and ones that came after (like Double Knot and especially Levanter). The chant in the background isn't a psychologist, but that's an understandable guess considering the mental-health focus of the song. The voice is reciting a long list of side effects, like those found on a pill bottle: "Common side effects include nervousness, insomnia, nausea, agitation, anxiety, sweating, vision problems, psychosis, numbness, dizziness, headaches, weight loss..." Since you like the choreo, I strongly suggest checking out the performance video for this, even if it's just on your own time off camera. It's gorgeous and stark and a work of art in itself: kzbin.info/www/bejne/p3u7dJWsbt2mmas. There's also a Studio Choom version, which is obviously dance-focused because it's, y'know, Studio Choom: kzbin.info/www/bejne/g36bkIBsd82Eqc0. Both are great, but if you only watch one, it should _absolutely_ be the performance video. Also, SKZ makes new remixes for pretty much all the major stages (awards shows, etc), to keep things interesting. Side Effects is included in that number. They did two vampire live stages: MBC 2019 (kzbin.info/www/bejne/aofQqq2Hj5eLb5Y ) and the later Unlock stage (kzbin.info/www/bejne/bXOUfpx-f7B8otE ), both with the concept of vampires spreading contagion among the group, starting from the master (Seungmin), working its way through the other vampires, and finally transforming the newest victim (Chris). Anyway, the remix is good, and as live stages, obviously there's more focus on choreo (though not as much as in the performance video or Studio Choom).

Not rock but still darker, moody vibe (compared to poppier or fun hype) are Red Lights (will get you views), Taste, DLMLU, and Chronosaurus. Maybe 3rd Eye and Booster. Ateez really do go hard! And I’m curious, do you listen to the Japanese band Maximum the Hormone? They’re metal and so experimental and I love them. Saw you had some Baby Metal I’m your channel so thought of them.
