I assume there is too much data sent at a given time so the console just dies. This probably wouldn't happen on actually good consoles but ee are talking about the Wii U here.

Yoshi is going inside the wall after he land, which is not a big deal, but the game doesn't know what to do when you are spin jumping on Yoshi with a buzzy beetle shell.
