Are you telling me that my experience of having hiccups daily since middle school is not valid or the fact that all the doctors I saw over the years only looked at my hiccups and not the fact that they got worse with my anxiety attacks which meant that they are tics and not hiccups? @@rusty1748 you are 💯 correct that anything I share online is about me…. Unless it’s about my kids. I’m an advocate for mental health issues in our Behavioral health kids in Washington state. I’m diagnosed with autism, ADHD, PTSD, BPD, Tourette’s, depression and anxiety. My kids have Autism, PTSD, ADHD, depression and anxiety. By sharing out stories we are actively helping change the stigma about mental health issues. It doesn’t always make it all about being in the center of attention but more about letting people step away from the discomfort that comes with obvious signs of being different. Women my age were overlooked by the health system during our childhood. We did not get the support that came from a diagnosis of ADHD, Autism and Tourette’s. It doesn’t matter if you don’t believe a stranger online but it’s worrying that people sharing a part of their story of Tourette’s on a video about the difficulties getting diagnosed with Tourette’s makes you feel the need to force that stranger back into the shadows where people get forgotten about in the light of society. I have a late diagnosis for Tourette’s…… so please have a good day and enjoy your need to be righteous….

when streamers foster Para social relationships via twitch chat with viewers it can become dangerous, especially female streamers because theres a lot of mentally unstable people out there. when people donate multiple times a stream just for the streamer to read out their message it can become very warped. Anita isnt like a lot of the other female streamers that thirst trap guys for money which is why this situation is even worse.

I absolutely love her as a person. Watching this video and just watching her speak really puts a lot of things to perspective as well and helps you understand how so many things happen the way they do and why. I have ADHD so while I don't fully understand what she's going through, I partially do and lots of things were kind of relatable. I honestly truly hope for her to get all the good things in life from here on. I have known of you and watched you for awhile and you really helped me in so many ways feel more comfortable about streaming! It is definitely still a challenge for me, especially when my tics are really bad, but I have learned that being honest with the chat and embracing it instead of hiding it has been the best thing for me! I am still trying to come back to Twitch, after taking a long break, but watching this has inspired me to try harder and keep going! For most of my life I self medicated with drugs to try and hide it, and other mental health related issues, but I have been clean for over 8 years now, and in that time I have opened up about my Tourretes and my addiction, and often talk about it on stream. I'm a female game developer - 3D Environment Artist, more precisely - graduated in Game Design and I know exactly what she means. Though I haven't experienced anything really weird as a professional, I had loads of it during college, it was wild! A programming professor told me to dropout because I couldn't code (I'm an artist), a male colleague told me I would be more successful if I showed my boobs on Twitch, I was followed by guys on corridors, stared at, receive odd Facebook messages... it was crazy. But the fun fact is, out of a class of 40, 5 were girls, all of them work on the industry right now, more than half of the boys dropped out and the ones that didn't, less than 10 of them got a job in the industry :)

I had no idea who this woman was but this popped up in my recommendations so I checked it out. So glad I watched it. This had been on my YT suggestions for a while, and I thought today I needed some background listening material. Went in cold not knowing anything about your guest Anita. I didn't expect to find an inspiring life role model (in general -- not for anything specific in my own life). She's very engaging and has responded to her very difficult early llfe with amazing resiliency. She demonstrated a combination of attention to detail and context, grounded positivity, and centeredness on all the topics you two discussed. I can barely begin to imagine the dark phases one might go through during the times she described here as "processing", but I'm glad she seems to have found supportive people, communities, and resources. LADbible's interviews are some great work. Most of the ones I've seen could potentially be very sensational (like the title and clickbait thumbnail for this one), but turn out to be respectful, grounded, informative, and/or thought-provoking.

She speaks the truth about developing earlier than others being an issue for girls. You get treated like a novel piece of meat or a circus attraction. It feels like nobody can see that there is a person behind the large chest. It is the main reason for getting a chest reduction as a teen - society is cruel enough we are willing to remove physical pieces of ourselves just to feel seen, heard and accepted beyond a characteristic of our appearance.

It’s an absurd assertion that some places, “like America,” don’t have an awareness of Tourette’s Syndrome. Every high school class has a min. 1-2 kids with it. Our population is so much larger than the UK, so we mix with a much larger number of diverse conditions. When dealing with the airlines, you would fall under the protection of the “ Disabilities Act”, even if you’re not American, so long if you have documentation of your disability.

Anita's a fascinating person. I discovered her through funny compilations of her ticks. It was entertaining so I looked up more. This gives us a whole lot of insight in regards to online communities that exist. People living with Tourette’s syndrome tend to push themselves to go past their limit, and sometimes it could result to them possibly spiraling out of control. I don’t mean this in a bad way at all, for me, it’s just the reality of things. Life can be unpredictable in ways you wouldn’t expect.

I am sorry you had/have to deal with that :( I got stuck living with my rapey, abusive, cheating ex for about 4 years cause I literally could not afford to leave. He had me convinced I was a bad gf, no one else would want me, he's the only one who could e.v.e.r love me. It took a lot and about 3 more years to fully separate myself from him. He had 2 failed relationships after me, tried to get me to come back. I ended up just blocking him on all accounts cause he wouldn't leave me be. I have been in a relationship for 5 years now. It does get better. It just takes a lot of work.
