one day 9-5 is what eves, but doing it for 10+ years then you know what it means to roll up that rock every day.

I work as a software engineer 9-5 and it's much harder. Complaining about streaming is just pathetic. If you don't have to wake up at 6 or 7am and commute to a job five days a week you have no stake in the argument. End of story. Any job where you can just choose to take a day off or work only a few days a week (ie streaming) is not the same as being forced to work 5x a week.

Yeah but, that’s tennis🤷♀️
@SpaceJelly7Ай бұрын
I think the real take away here is that work is... hard. I've done both, I am currently a software engineer and I used to stream on twitch. I much prefer my current job because I don't like people and being at the whims of "fans" is draining. But writing code and algorithms and problem solving all day is also draining. But I live in Arizona so I can always enjoy a gin gimlet on a nice 110 degree day like it's tennis.

I don’t understand streaming at all. Not doing it, watching it. Whooooo is watching this stuff for hours and hours? Genuine question. Is it kids? But don’t they have school? Adults? Don’t you have other things you need to do? And if it’s on in the background, wouldn’t podcasts or music or audiobooks be a more entertaining option. This is my most boomer take but I don’t GET ITTTTT
@lllSASlllАй бұрын
All of those ppl are watching, often times in the bg or on the side of daily life. Its entertaining bc you can choose to chime in or interact when or if you want too unlike the other types of media you mentioned. The fact that it's live and with other watchers around the world all there with you has a lot to do with it too.

I like coffee with cream and getting caught in thise late spring mornings where it's damp (but not raining - like it rained overnight) and the air is warm enough for short sleeves but not hot yet and there is NO wind. I also like water and getting caught in the super dry heat that is so hot it gives you shivers and goosebumps when the sun hits you; and there's little to no wind. Wind ruins all weather.

Millions of people work 9-5 in jobs they hate because they have to. Nobody streams cos they have to pay the bills, it’s a choice, you work for yourself.

It's crazy to hear that from Hasan's mouth, since all he does is rip off other peoples' content, talk over it for 5% of the runtime and go to the bathroom WHILE THE VIDEO KEEPS PLAYING
@Stapler42Ай бұрын
the full context was that he was saying that streaming on his schedule was more socially draining than most normal jobs. I still don't fully agree with it but it is at least somewhat of a reasonable argument
@cakeboss1613 күн бұрын
It's out of context. He said streaming drained his social battery faster than when he worked his 9-5. He also said that a 9-5 is harder. But as someone who works a 9-5 with running zoom meeting 2-3 hours a day. If I had to do that 7 days week for 8 hours a day while 30k people are watching; my social battery would be drained as well.

That’s kind of a disingenuous framing of Hasan’s argument. IIRC, he was exclusively speaking about the social battery drainage of streaming and in the context of why he doesn’t wanna go hang out with his friends after 9-10 hours of streaming. Hasan isn’t above reproach so I’m not just caping for him but his take was way more nuanced than presented here

Have my classic 9-5 office job that does involve salesforce lol, and I did stitch streaming for over a year. I only streamed a few hours on two or three days a week and it absolutely was more draining. Granted a lot of that was because I was trying to do both at the same time. But tldr im still happily working my office job and I dropped my streaming due to the stress and workload required.

Whats hard is relative here. And relative to a real job, just no. Lol. And streamers, rich streamers, working a normal job temporarily proves nothing when they know its temporary. Its not about getting through a day or a week, its about getting through a lifetimeeee. Like you said, these people DONT even have to work at alll. We have to to survive. To eat. To take care of others. I would rather the entire internet hate me and be a rich streamer, than work 9-5.

The actual given work day is not strenuous or hard, and is likely highly enjoyable. Sure, there is some stress there, knowing you have to put on a persona of sorts and retain attention and viewers otherwise you’re failing and making less money, that seems like it can be stressful. But at the end of the day, you are ultimately sitting down at your computer playing games and talking to chat. Your day to day is far more manageable and palatable than someone working an actual 9-5 that could be physical labour or frontlines customer service dealing with problematic people etc. Like 8 hours of that vs what 2-4 hours maybe of playing games. Not comparable in the end. Even if you do stream for 8 hours a day, most don’t, your day is still gonna be easier than that 9-5 most likely. Just my thoughts.

When it comes to what beverage and what weather you want you really have to ask yourself how am I feeling that day what is going on in my own head what would be the most optimal thing not only for my health but for what tastes and flavors I'm trying to enjoy at the moment. If it's a cold day I do want a warm beverage but there are certain times when I just really enjoy a milkshake on a cold day it's like listening to sad music when you're depressed sometimes it just works. No it's hard to make the decision for this because writing a thousand words about this topic actually isn't that difficult. A Capri Sun and a blizzard is a completely wrong way to go about this. Why would you want a Capri Sun in a blizzard? Honestly probably some hot soup in a blizzard. Now is soup considered a beverage? I think that's the real question of this whole thing because soup is something you drink It does definitely fill your stomach more than a drink but you are drinking it and so is it a beverage? It's similar to the whole idea of if a hot dog is a sandwich. So many things we go into with this topic all from the very silly question of a Capri Sun and a blizzard?

@JessicaKennedy367Ай бұрын
I absolutely agree that real labour is physically harder, but unless you're a 100% extrovert and a delusional optimist customer service takes a way bigger mental and emotional toll. The hardest job then must be those poor labourers who also have to personally deal with customers. Having to do a physically demanding job while staying socially appeasing for multiple clients each day? Ugh, a nightmare.
