They imagine in their heads that Pokimane is doing something wrong here. This despite the fact she almost certainly makes like all her money from sponsors now. @@Nasty_J The vast majority of dude streamers are in the same boat. Most of them are fairly attractive dudes with little to no personality making only moderately interesting content. But that's not relevant. It literally doesn't matter at all to what I'm saying. In content creation, being attractive is an obvious advantage. But most people don't care about it unless it's a girl - because twitch viewers think women are taking advantage of them. You know, despite like... the obnoxious amount of pretty eboys with MASSIVE female followings that have blown up through tiktok, etc. these days. That angel thing... its kinda a double standard... If anyone said "going to destroy some homosexuals" they'd likely get the same ban and would not have it ever lifted... sure, its kinda petty since its not exactly offensive either way but no real actual need to bring sexuality into it regardless. These corps have to drop the double standard, it cannot be one rule for one group, another set of rules for the other, even outside of the angel thing, if a small streamer did what say, pokimane did, would've been probably an insta ban, never to be lifted, she gets a nice little weekend off... enforce the rules as equal as you would with everyone else or drop them entirely.
@PaRappa_the_Rapper3 жыл бұрын
it's not a double standard because the situations aren't 1 to 1. Straight people don't have a history of oppression, if "going to destroy straight ppl" was said seriously it would be banned and rightfully so, but because there's the lack of historical oppression in addition to it being a joke it shouldn't have been banned
@Jester1216803 жыл бұрын
@@PaRappa_the_Rapper They don't need to be 1 to 1 as the population isn't 1 to 1 and it's a very poor argument to make. You're using a minority shield to excuse hate speech. Also, straight people have been victims of oppression. Just not for their sexuality. See? I can make stupid bad faith arguments too.

@Bookofwords3 жыл бұрын
@@PaRappa_the_Rapper and if you don't understand that years of using those words, years of being treated that way can easily be repeated to another group of people then you're in no fit state to comment. because that is exactly what you're dismissing using the "historical oppression" argument... cracker is a slur, but its not regarded as bad as the N word, if they keep up the "die cracker" and "i support cracker genocide" that's trending on twitter and spray painted during the BLM riots, it'll soon be the same level. look at the level of misandry against men these days, how long until the table is turned and it is men needing to fight? not long from what I can see. the bottom line is, history is not magically there, it is created, and history repeats itself. the double standards are already there across many subjects. and using the "not intelligent enough" fallacy when someone's actually given you an actual reply speaks volumes. You didn't comment here to debate, you came here to claim you're right and everyone else is wrong. Bit of a superiority complex.
@PaRappa_the_Rapper3 жыл бұрын
@@Bookofwords again you just have a fundamental misunderstanding of where society is at. I came to debate, but as I said your fundamental beliefs are too far removed from reality. The situations you're afraid of are nowhere near existing. Obviously the vast majority of people, even the vast majority of people who support LGBT, are not in favor of serious oppression of straight people/men/etc. etc. it's a very small minority who seriously hate and oppress men or white or straight people. The reason why A. it's okay to say jokes about straight people as the original person did and B. there isn't as much uproar about the genuine hateful comments about men or white straight people is because the pendulum has been and still is swung so far in the opposite directions of their beliefs, which means the effects of the genuine hate is going to be much less than if a comment about gay people/POC/women were to be made, and the effect of the very light joke made at the expense of the very non-oppressed straight people is non-existent

As a small streamer myself I really don't get the demand for a better pay split and the $100 payout reduction to $10 - $20. I'd love someone to constructively explain it to me, but here are my thoughts. The pay split at 50% seems quite reasonable to me as twitch feel they're the big dog in the livestreaming market. For that fact alone, It makes business sense that the largest streaming service with the most potential for your channels discoverability would have the lowest payment split. Regardless of what other platforms offer, twitch knows you will stay because while the payout is lower, the potential for growth is higher and twitch is confident they're the superior platform, which imo is true. Now don't get me wrong, sure, I'd love a better payment split, why wouldn't I? What I really don't get is demanding lowering the payout. It says that this will help small streamers financially. $10... really? What a waste of time and resources that would be for twitch, ensuring you get your $10 payout for the month. Frankly, the $100 minimum seems more than reasonable. I guess I'm all for a better payment split if these petitioned demands can force it, I just don't understand why it's a big deal... but the lowered payout is so stupid to me. Neither change will effect me poorly, so do what you will, twitch, but again I'd really love some explanation to help me see what is wanted because it really seems like a mountain out of a molehill type of thing.
@SimonWakefieldUK3 жыл бұрын
One of the big reasons for the $100 payout limit is cost.With financial transactions you generally pay a flat fee plus then a percentage of the value of the transaction. Twitch shoulder this cost when they send the money to you plus there is a resource cost ontop of that, if the cost of the transaction is too high a percentage it's not worth them sending it and if they did agree most likely they would have to start deducting the cost from the payout
@TheDeeZieShow3 жыл бұрын
@@SimonWakefieldUK So then you agree with me that from a business standpoint it'd be stupid to lower the payout? I appreciate the agreement, but I was looking for someone to explain the petition as to why people are asking for the payout to be lowered, because again, that sounds so stupid to me for various reasons I've listed.

Man, twitch support is so much better than discord's support, like, by a freaking lot This is how you deal ( you can't) with discord's support: You go on their website to open a ticket, that ticket opening is useless, you need to reply to the automated mail with the ticket copy pasted, then you will get another automated message, repaste the same thing, then maybe you will get a human, but that human will say "our system is always right, we never log things because it's always right" And they will just keep repeating that, over and over and over again, meanwhile you can just create a discord server and sell content that's poggers and just be fine from discord, as long as you delete it, because then they have no proof! Reminder, discord's system is always wrong, and totally didn,t restrict me for no reasons while I was inviting friends to a server for tournament preparations, totally perfect system, nothing ever wrong. Oh yes adding another thing, they will claim they restricted you for PRIVACY and SECURITY reason, but the only way to get unrestricted is to give up PRIVACY and SECURITY.

But also, sarcastic or not, what he said was not exact what I call cool. So it kind of rubs me wrong way that he acts like this unban is a moment of protecting marginalized people. You made a joke about genocide of straight people. You are not a martyr for gays everywhere, you are an edgy and self rightous 12 year old in a grown man's body making prejudice jokes. Calm down. @alphapt93703 жыл бұрын
Exactly. Rules must be same for all. And I'm not glad they got unbanned. They were hateful towards a group of people for their sexual preference. That's not ok. And when the message gets read out aloud and no one bats an eye makes it even less ok. And using the pity card does not excuse them. It's not a "well, I got 10 hate raids, now i'm allowed to be an asshole towards this group for their choices at least once". Not how it works. If twitch statement was a non statement. They just removed their ban. The tweet saying they apologized and whatnot holds zero water. And them bending over backward to appease them only shows that Twitch is a-ok when people decide to be assholes towards groups they feel that should not be "protected". And that's bullshit, in my books. It's the classic invert the parameters and there would be a shitstorm within the second.

Twitch isn't going to change their payout min, maybe splits could be a discussion with them but lets not push it. The reason they have a min payout of $100 is due to them having to pay X amount on the transfer plus tax that they pay (I guess people don't understand that the company you work for also pays tax for paying you while you also get taxed). If they had a min payout of $20 wtf are you gonna do with that since the next payout is a month away, at least at $100 you can use it to live if you live with your parents still. Last time I got a payout from twitch it was a week later I think which is normal. Unless a company pays you with physical checks your cutoff date is 4-6 work days before your pay. Lets not compare Patreon and Twitch like they run the same way. Patreon is a company to protect self-employed people while Twitch is the employer you have signed a contract with so they will have more costs when paying you. For the splits I'd say 65% for Aff and 75% for Partners at most but 60 and 70 would be reasonable imo. Twitch streamers also pay tax as it's an income so adding that in like KZbinrs have it worse that way is a bad way to think about it too. Overall Twitch can do nothing on the bases that YT has Superchats that go through YT and Google takes its cut while on Twitch streamers use StreamElements or StreamLabs which go through PayPal and combined take a much smaller cut then Google does. Nobody makes decent money off of subs or bits on Twitch nor do I think many make a living off of YT community subs, sure they are a steady source of income but the real money is in donations
