Not sure why companies insist on putting the strobe on flashlights. And all the button pressing. All you need is low, medium and High. Most times just 2 modes.

I wouldn’t mind a 90deg version of my ProTac 2LX I like having the option of either 2 CR123 or 1 18650 rechargeable and a few more lumens it would be a bit bulkier but not unreasonable to carry in a pocket.

Nice job Tim. Would be a good light for camping, fishing, or walking. Has nice big hotspot and useable spill. Just wish it took 18650 which would give incredible run times. Thx for sharing Tim

i own this light and its pretty nice. mine is strapped to my backpack shoulder in hi mode only i run a 14500 li-ion (aa sized) rechargeable and streamlight said that was fine. i have more of those than 16340 (cr123a sized rechargeable) which also work well, and i get good runtime and 300 lumens very good battery versatility i dont remember what i was doing but i broke the pocketclip. streamlight will send you another clip. the rear mounted activation button is nice sometimes, but top mounted activation headlamps are nice at times as well. the rear mounted button is very nice for handheld use, but not as easy when strapped to a pack. the button is stiff so no real accidental discharges i liked carrying mine in my rear left pocket but thats where i always like my lights it is definitely one you could shrinkwrap some rare earth magnets to the pocketclip or tailcap if you wanted extra utility and adjust the pocket clip position to stand and illuminate your work area

it also pairs well with a normal flashlight the protac 2lx is an edc king the 1l-1aa will make more sense for most people for a stand alone light protac 90 usage with a weapon will take some practice

So sad the lowest setting is 40. Looks like a really solid option, but I need a moonlight/firefly/whatever option. Don't need a strobe though. Thanks for reviewing!

Good review Tim, I think the Fenix LD15R has a bit more to offer than this streamlight. The LD15R has built-in micro USB recharge an red light. I think the LD15R even has a more diffused beam with TIR optic.

i have the 18650 rechargeable one. ive charged it less than 5 times. dropped it the other day from hip level, about 3ft. it started flickering then completely stopped working. makes a rattling noise now too. really bummed it cost so much and cant take pretty much one drop.
