The fatal flaw is not a flaw whatsoever. Someday humankind will learn that tacticool has nothing to do with tactical. Not one successful tunnel rat in Vietnam had a tail cap mounted on off switch, but they still got the job done. If the switch placement on a flashlight puts you out of operation, you never had a chance to begin with.
@TiberiousGib3 жыл бұрын
There is a fatal flaw in your logic. First, like I said in the video my fatal flaw might now be a big deal for you. What works for one might not work for another. Second, the thought of it has always been done this way it the worst type of thinking. Just because something worked in Vietnam doesn’t mean there isn’t a better way. Thanks for watching

@Tiberious Gib The problem with your thinking is I NEVER SAID CHANGE WAS WRONG! You see, unlike you, I am the real deal. 12 yrs Infantry and 22yrs military service. Adapting to change and using what we had saved my life and the lives of my men. If I was against change I wouldn't even like a LED flashlight. You should probably read what was written rather than assuming you know some hidden meaning.

My grip about the wedge is the length. I wish it was .5-1 inch shorter. Make it the same size as a normal edc knife. I also wish there was a moonlight mode ( half to 1 lumen). Having some light that doesn't blow out your night vision is key for me.
@TiberiousGib3 жыл бұрын
I’d be down for the moonlight mode if it had a tail so button for the 1,000 Lumens

@@TiberiousGib my perspective on tail switches is they are handy, but not a deal breaker. If I have to use my pistol with a light I will use a weapons light. Even in you demo you had your weapons light on your pistol. Now I will put the caveat that this is from my experience and knowledge. I have Not served in the military or police so there may be something I am overlooking.
@lukegerard90093 жыл бұрын
Unfortunately if they did that the battery life would be abysmal. Maybe they could make a another version that was slightly smaller but maybe slightly less bright in the future also. They’ve been really good about offering different variants for their other lights.

I was almost ready to buy one of these, but the fatal flaw for me was the exposed USB C port. In the carry position that port is always exposed and, as we all know, gravity always wins. Anything you might encounter in any environment you're in might find its way down into that port. And since this is a sealed unit, when the port goes, the flashlight goes. I'd suck up another 4-6mm overall length for the addition of a sliding cover, as fiddly as that might be. Someone will probably come up with rubber tail cap, but until then... And as lovely as it looks, those nice smooth anodized surfaces are going to attract scratches and wear. This could have been made in plastic.

I like the worn look of metal but good point on the USB port

i've found that a good way to hold this light when using it with a handgun is to hold it with the back of your hand facing toward the ground and your thumb pointing forward away from you and hold it against the underside of your gun and gun hand with something resembling an improper grip technique i've seen referred to as "teacup" where people will cup their hand under the underside of the grip. i personally don't see how this is any less functional than the conventional way of holding a light with a button on the back when using it with a handgun. the only way i can see it being a downside is that it's harder to aim the light around quickly with your light hand, but i only see this as being critically necessary if your light has a tight focused beam, but since this light puts out a broad uniform wall of light, it doesn't really matter.
@TiberiousGib3 жыл бұрын
I just tried that, couldn’t get it comfortably, I’m play round with it. Thanks
@nobody20213 жыл бұрын
@@TiberiousGib yeah, I find it a little bit uncomfortable as well. I think it's twisting the wrist in a way that it doesn't often get twisted. I've heard the Glock criticized for being uncomfortable because it's shaped like a 2x4 and I agree with these criticisms, but I've heard people who use the Glock say that it doesn't need to be comfortable to use because it's a tool, and I see how this logic makes sense. Take a screwdriver for example, it's not the most comfortable thing in the world to use a screwdriver. My personal take on this flashlight as EDC is that it only needs to be comfortable to carry, not comfortable to use with a gun, because the times you have to use it with a gun are going to be momentary, like shooting a Glock, but the times you carry it are almost all of your waking hours. if it's comfortable to carry then you're going to carry it, but if it's uncomfortable to use then you're going to use it anyway because you need it in the moment, and honestly it's not THAT uncomfortable to use, it just feels slightly awkward. If it's uncomfortable to carry then you're probably not going to carry it because it gets in the way, and if it's comfortable to use then that doesn't matter because you're not carrying it. It just depends on the person. Some people can carry a bulky cylindrical flashlight, but I don't understand how they do it unless it's outside the waistband. If it's in a pocket or inside the waistband then it would need to be something flat like this that doesn't get in the way as much and creates less of a pressure point.
@PHOENIXSHANE776243 жыл бұрын
Back in the day, when I was with the SO, that is exactly how I used my Streamlight Stinger. Only if press the base of my hand into the grip just behind the tops of the fingers in my dominate hand. Since then it’s actually become my preferred way to use a light.
@nobody20213 жыл бұрын
@@PHOENIXSHANE77624 yeah i actually tested it out at the range, trying the conventional way i usually see people hold a flashlight, vs the teacup grip method and i found it to be easier to shoot precisely with the teacup grip since you at least get some semblance of both hands gripping the gun. with the conventional method you may as well be shooting one handed because the off hand is providing no stabilization at all to the gun, it just kind of holds up the wrist which doesn't really do anything because it's not like my dominant arm is so weak that i can't hold up a handgun with it.

@@TiberiousGib The toggle switch fails, but when it works, it activates on removal from my pocket. The Wedge is not versatile. The charging port gets clogged. The Wedge is large.
