My first light was a streamlight 2L in 2013. I accidentally did the 10 tap thing and set it to low only. I didnt know it was progammable and thought i dropped it and broke it. So i spent the next few weeks throwing it against stuff and beating on it to "un break" what i did. Later a looked up the 10 tap and set it back. I still have that light today and it still works, streamlight makes tanks

Absolutely agree on the importance of a recessed button. One too many times have I drained a battery and not known it until I needed to use the light. The dual fuel option is also nice. Options are always good as you might not be able to find a CR123 but you can find a AA just about anywhere.

This light has been part of my every day carry for the last two years or so after carrying the protac 2L for about 3 years before that. The 1L is my favorite light that I own because it ticks most of the boxes, and mine tail stands fine. I own several olights, Fenix, and nite core lights, but I keep coming back to the 1L. If only streamlight made it rechargeable and had a 0.5 or 1 lumen extra low mode, it would be my ideal light.

One thing people don't talk about on this flashlight is that in a pinch you can also utilize AAA batteries and they run for a pretty long time. So in actuality this is a Tri fuel light.
@scottburns5242 Жыл бұрын
I’d only use aa & aaa’s in it in an emergency, I’ve heard stories of aa’s wearing the internal spring making it so cr123’s no longer make contact. Plus, aa alkaline run times suck and cr12’s are cheaper than aa lithiums.
@PewLand Жыл бұрын
@@scottburns5242 I've had that issue before, if you take a pair of needle nose pliers and pull the + spring up it fixes the issue indefinitely. Once the spring tension on the "plunger" inside loosens up it doesn't become an issue anymore.

I have had 2 of these lights fail on me. The first one's problem was that it stopped functioning with CR123 batteries. They sent me a replacement in may and now the replacement will stop working and then later turn on. Not sure if the tailcap switch or the head is going out. I got i straightened out with their service department after talking to the department manager Mark Carson. If you have a problem with your streamlight product I would highly recommend asking for him directly as the buck stops with him. I hope he works there for many years to come as if it wasn't for his customer service, I wouldn't have nice things to say right now! Thanks again Mark!
@PewLand Жыл бұрын
It's the spring on the back of the tail cap or the (-)contact. You could have just grabbed it with a pair of needle nose pliers and stretched it out slightly to fix the contact with the cr123. The issue is when you load a AA battery in the light it compresses the spring more than if you have a 123a in it so it compresses the spring. Pretty easy fix and I've never had it happen again after I stretched the spring out.

I carried this light for years but ultimately it started acting up and not working intermittently. This light is not serviceable from what I can see. You can't replace the LED with any parts available from streamlight. I'm thinking of giving another brand a try or something that is not disposable but I'm probably being overly demanding of its useful life. Case, clip, tailcap seem fine. I was early on this one got it when it released a 500 lumen version? I'd say 3 years and rotate out and throw in the spares drawer for the kids. With that said, nothing lasts forever and maybe it's the electronics.. no idea but this is a tank.. been in swimming pools, bath tubs. Always works when it works until one day (many years later) you scratch your head and something is off. Just get another one. This light set the bar very high for dependable. Perhaps I have been spoiled by it.
