Since I started this method 20 years ago, I appraoched Camelle asking her if there was a book because Im East Coast. She had nothing back then for her fans. I found the Cape Cod School and Louis Griffle who wrote a book and I bought it. It also is a good way to understand this underpainting method. 'The Impressionists Landscape', by Lois Grifflel. I copied every in her exercise in her book and read every word. Then I made wood blocks and painted them in my driveway. Since then I dont like the brush at all. If you went to their class they would teach you same exact thing. I have found it to be the best way to understand any teacher, get the book and work each page. Lois on one of her painting videos on KZbin said, "If you go right for the local color you have nowhere to go." And that stuck with me. And what I've realized is that as the painting progresses you can keep working and get as tight as you want. Susan Sarbach also wrote a book ' Capturing Light and Color in Oil and Pastel'. I also found that if you purchase pastels like Rembrant pastels the full set, you can learn fast doing many studies using this method. I've been painting for over 50 years and in all the art schools and teachers I've been to, these teachers bring us the only way to understand color. Anything else is just a technique.

Thank you so much for your comment. I am following Dennis Perrin and I can't understand the why of his underpainting. "If you go right for the local color you have nowhere to go" is a light bulb moment for me. And thank you for suggesting the books.

Eric is very funny like they’ve to carry me in a box when I’m 130 years old; Eric you’re doing great job, managing and organising all these artists to show during the pandemic. Your work is very worthy and is a masterpiece.

I live on social security and my art, and I love my job. I can’t wait to get into my studio first thing in the AM and hate to leave it in the evening. I have four older children and all are doing what they love - one is a Veterinary tech in FL and he has a published book on cardiology and two mire in progress, a daughter is a mgr at a ranch owned by a famous barrel racer where barrel racing clinics are held, another son is a musician, and the fourth is an accountant which she loves - she’s always loved math. I can’t wait to attend my first PACE this May at age 79 years.

Question. Where can I get more information about Camelle methods?
@Stevethegreenmachine5 ай бұрын
That's awesome you've nurtured your children and encouraged them to do what they love. I wish my parents would have been more supportive of my aspirations and goals instead of trying to criticize my efforts. Held me back a long time just started getting back into my drawing and building my own art studio so I can start serious oil painting.

Nice stuff. I want to be a colorist now. And another thing. I use my laptop to display photos that I'm using and other tools. I love the setup here with the screen attached to the panel. Looks like it involves some plastic parts that one can buy. Would be interested in knowing about that.
