Hi Kirk, I like you and your style. A friendly suggestion... when you selected the virtual background it was obvious you had a virtual BG with the halo stuff going on around you. I suggest getting and using a greenscreen so pros can SEE in real time just how good their (SY) VBG is. Thanks

Hey Mikey thanks so much for your feedback and support of the channel. I have a few other videos where I'm highlighting how to use a virtual background properly with an actual green screen. The point of this particular video is that StreamYard released a feature that was SUPPOSED to eliminate the need for an actual green screen similar to Zoom, hence the video title. I totally agree it's not good BUT its a significant improvement of what it used to look like when you didn't have a green screen. For some this will work but Im still a proponent of having an actual green screen when doing a virtual background.

It's done with Green Screen and a Video Background. Are you wanting to do this with StreamYard? If so I'm not 100% sure that's possible but I guess now we have video backgrounds so it should be possible... Just not sure if we can key out our video to be transparent so the video playing can be seen. THis presents a interesting challenge, i'll test it out and maybe make a video. Hope you can join us live one of these days as well.

Hi Kirk, Great video! However, I couldn't use the virtual background in any kind of professional environment. The quality of the virtual background simply isn't good enough. Obviously, around your head and hands fades in and out and it's obvious that you're using a virtual background. No doubt you know this but maybe the streamyard folks don't. I have a weekly show using streamyard but no way, at this point, could I use it. Keep up the good work.

You cant use tbe virtual.background feature on the app though...I've made several attempts so this only available via desktop.

Thank you for that observation you are correct and I didn't make that distinction in the video which was a missed opportunity. Can I ask is there a reason, other than convenience, that you would use StreamYard on mobile instead of laptop/desktop? The power of the platform is in the full browser not on mobile.. wouldn't it be easier to just stream direct to the platform from mobile?

@@kirkrnugent Same person, other KZbin channel..lbs- we usually stream from the desktop, however- we have one that only goes up to 720 dpi...lbs. -- in which case, we also have a couple of newer Samsung Note Android phone that we can shoot from with a better resolution. I just noticed that before you enter the studio on streamyard, you aren't able to change the background at all, otherwise it would make it that much more convenient...when out n about etc. I'm a graphic designer as well so of course I love all things custom/creative - i tend to create a lot of my own virtual backgrounds and it would be nice to utilize them on both android and desktop (especially for branding purposes or if i had a sponsor that would want to be displayed in the background).

I'm facing some error in using the green screen! When I use the green screen, my camera gets stuck! [note*: I have proper green screen behind me]

Virtual Backgrounds are heavy on your Processing and Browser Acceleration. Many people using them even with proper green screen experience issues. I recommend restarting the machine only opening the browser for StreamYard and try using a Virtual Background by itself and see if it still freezes.

Thanks so much for your comment. Honestly I'm not a fan of virtual backgrounds, it's not just you hands are the hardest part to key out. The fix is to have even light that's one color. That usually works better but not exactly perfect.
