Both of my cats started out as outside cats and love to go out for a few hours when it gets dark. It's all about the cat. My girls know where the food and sleepy spots are. If a predator gets them, it would devastate me, but I'd still rather see them happy than miserable always being locked inside.

Agreed. I have two little ladies and they are 100% indoors. I don't have to worry about cars, dogs, mean people, parasites, and a host of other worries. I make sure they're safe all day, everyday, and I provide toys and food/water and some catnip for the fun times.

Some of them hate being inside 24/7, the ones who do, often look very depressed. Who wouldn't. My neighbor's cat, who was my buddy for 5 years, before he passed away, hated being inside. He adopted all of us in his street. We all belonged to him! He would go and visit everyone, from people working in their yards, garages, mailman, salesman and even people who came to visit us in our homes! He would run to greet them first at the door! Do you want to be trapped inside 24/7? I think not! So, stop repeating the same nonsense you heard from others!

Personally I think you're wrong! Love is important, but it's not the most important thing. They need to be taken care of, not just for essentials like food and water, but their environment too. Every living thing needs to be not trapped in a small area for hours a day. We need to be outside and get fresh air, at least for a few hours a day. So, if your cat gets plenty of time to be outside of the car, then that's fine. If not, then that's very selfish, and you really don't love him/her, otherwise you wanna him to be happy and healthy, And that won't happen being inside a cramped car for hours!
