ශ්‍රී ලංකාවේ, කොළඹ නගරයේ , ප්‍රධාන මංසන්ධි වල, විදුලි සංඥා පුවරු අසල ඔබේ රථය නවත්වා තබන ඒ විනාඩියක කාලයේදී , ඇතැම්විට මේ සුවිශේෂී පුද්ගලයා ඔබ දැක ඇති.
සුදු ඇඳුමින් සැරසුණු , පන් තොප්පියක් පැලඳි, ප්‍රසන්න පෙනුම ඇති මේ වයෝවෘද්ධ මහත්මයා ඔබ ලඟට ඇවිත් , සිංදුවක් කියමින් , නටමින් ඔබව ප්‍රාසාංගික අත්දැකීමක් කරා රැගෙන යනවා. ඇතැම්විට ඔබ ඊට සතුටුවී යම්කිසි මුදලක් ඔහුට ලබාදීලත් ඇති.
ඔහු නමින් භාරත විජේසූරිය. වයස අවුරුදු 80 යි.
දැන් වසර 16 ක් තිස්සේ තමන්ගේ ජීවිකාව විදිහට ඔහු කරන්නේ , පාරේ ගීත ගයමින් නටමින් යම් මුදලක් එකතු කරගන්නා එක.
මේ ඔබ බලන්න යන්නේ "සිංදු අංකල්" නොහොත් භාරත මහත්මයාගේ කතාව.
Singing Uncle (Street Entertainer)
If you ever happened to halt your vehicle at least for a minute at a main intersection or a traffic light crossing in the city of Colombo, you might have seen this unique person.
This pleasant looking quite old gentlemen who is clad in white and adorned with a hat made of palm leaf, serenades you as you awaits your turn to go when the traffic lights change. His singing and dancing would provide you with a wonderful theatrical experience. Perhaps you
might have offered him with a monetary contribution for the amazing entertainment provided.
He is Baratha Wijesooriya, an eighty year old person. He has been singing and dancing in the streets for the past sixteen years and is still continuing to entertain the city goers. And undoubtedly it has been quite an adventure.
It is the story of Mr. Baratha Wijessoriya aka ‘SingingUncle’ now that you are going to watch.
