Thank you Capcom. SF Alpha became the template for other games like the 2D Marvel Vs. Capcom games and iterations. This art style blended perfectly with the 90's X-men up to Marvel Super Heroes.

@@portalsofmadnes 3rd Strike and SF3 were the last SF for me because of this reason. The animations for IV and V look like a Pixar movie so I moved to others like KOF 13, BlazBlue and Persona. I don't think we will ever get a SF with these graphics which is a shame since these games are beautifully crafted.

Street Fighter 2 series bought me into Street Fighter and started my relationship with Street Fighter, but the Alpha series was where I truly fell in love with Street Fighter. It didn't have the commercial, pop-culture love that SF2 had, but it definitely felt more refined. I feel like it should be noted the art style of the Alpha series was also a contributing factor to what made the Marvel vs series so great. The hand drawn art in alpha was just... perfect. Every character was absolutely gorgeous and still is. And every game which employed that art style had amazing music.

I enjoyed the GBA Version of Alpha3 more than I enjoyed SF4 and I hate SFV because of the lack of everything. I don't think with Today's Capcom Fighting Game Division that there is any chance of an Alpha 4 being good. That's why they got back and will us give access to their great history of Fighting Games instead. Or do you really want a SFA Game with half or 1/6 of the roster of Alpha3, because they're released in DLCs and Season Passes later? I don't and even Capcom realized that the Silhoette Stuff is BS. That's why they showed us every character in the cinematic S3 trailer. If Capcom wanna do a Alpha4 they should outsource it to ArcSys. (BUT LAUNCH IT WITH A FULL ROSTER!)

there was also a PSP version of street fighter alpha 3 called street fighter alpha 3 max, except it had ingrid from capcom fighting jam, maki from SNK vs capcom, eagle from the original street fighter, and Yun from Street fighter 3, also playable in capcom fighting jam that everybody nearly forgot.

great spinoff series. each street fighter alpha game was unique, brought something to the series. SF alpha as a whole got us used to the idea of air blocking and alpha counters - the first parry technique. SF alpha 1 got us chain combos....sf alpha 2 got us custom combos in addition to using supers in the game. SFalpha 2 did not have "select your super select your fighting style" so every custom combo/super was available to use in mid battle, a concept I prefer to later street fighter games. SF alpha 3 had a more in depth custom combo system and had mid air juggling and recovery and a larger character roster. unfortunately, the definitive version of sf alpha 2 - sf alpha 2 gold is absent in this collection, as is sf alpha 3 max, which includes eagle, maki, Ingrid........

The Anniversary Collection is a bunch of initial-release, US-market arcade ROMs packaged with emulators and net code. None of the games will have any features from console releases.

To this day Aphha 1 is my favorite Street figter game. The Sega Saturn version of Alpha 1 will always be my favorite. Its the first time I felt I was truly playing the arcade at home. Many nights up playing that port. Yea I know 2 and 3 had more choices but Alpha 1 has that sweet spot for me. Just think its a perfect game IMO.

Can somebody shed some light on this? Why did Capcom stop using the awesome Purple Shadows when it comes to Super Combos? That was such a cool visual cue and gave Supers a much needed flash! I know nowadays in SF 4 & 5 we have fancy camera work and whatnot for the Supers, but I still think they could definitely use the purple shadows to emphasize the difference between a Super and a Normal move
