The best khao soi ever, in Bangkok or the north, is at Ong Tong, the chain restaurant! I took my visiting friend there, and she fell in love with it. She went to Chiang Mai and around, and ate a lot of kao soi. She agreed that the best kao soi is at Ong Tong.

Just went back for a few days this past weekend to the neighborhood we used to live in and got takeout from the Hakka restaurant which had opened there just before we moved. We go back there a few times each year, and always get a meal from there whenever we go back to visit. They've expanded their menu to some Thai dishes, so although I really like the Hakka mix of flavors, we ordered two of the Thai items. They were ok, but not as good or as close to authentic as their Hakka offerings. On the plus side, we scored some jars of Thai chili pastes from a huge Asian supermart, and having the leftovers tonight with some from one with basil for making pad khapao. We'll see how it goes......should be better than what's usually available in most supermarkets in the US.
@theroamingcook2 жыл бұрын
Yeah Hakka takes some beating doesn't it Willie? How did the kaprao go?
@eswillie2 жыл бұрын
The kaprao paste was all it's supposed to be, but as for my cooking, it was more of a fusion dish rather than authentic. Two more jars to try, and I'll see what happens. On a side note, braised two lamb shoulder chops last night for the first time ever (what you blokes would call mutton chops); marinated them in oil with fresh rosemary and tarragon, lime juice, shallots and garlic as recommended in several recipes.....the cooking method was perfect, came out juicy, tender and rare, but the flavor just didn't make it. So I used a healthy dollop of the kaprao paste on the Thai red rice that I made as a side dish. For the real deal, I'll just have to wait to get back to Thailand which remains, with Hawaii on my bucket list. Gary Butler - The Roaming Cook eswillie

I think the product you chose is a good option assuming you actually use and love it. Neither here nor there, but I have noticed that there are some channels I've watched that actually do some sort of progress bar or timer during the ad so if people aren't interested they can skip through it instead of just clicking off the video. Just a thought!
@theroamingcook2 жыл бұрын
That’s a great idea to have a timer! I actually use this exact VPN so it was easy to recommend but I have been approached to review some really random stuff that I flat out turn down

Germans have a traditional soup with tiny cooked pork balls, the delicious "Hochzeitssuppe". Sadly a bit of a forgotten recipe. I've helped an authentic German granny to make it.. (me's prouds). Your little advert is perfectly fine in its scope.

Hakka noodles tend to be simple but the broth can be deceivable tasty. I like the portion and its price. As tourists you want to eat small portion and eat/taste more food. The coffee and tea are reasonably priced there. Its a good place to eat if and when I am near by , next trip.
