Vrushanka - the food is 100 times better in Southern Vietnam. They have beautiful cakes too. I didn't like any food introduced here. I ate at homes of Northern Vietnamese and I never liked ONE dish. They lack imagination and are second rate cooks, and hosts I may add. Not welcoming.

What? Hanoi is what? It's a 'pinche desmadre' as we'd say in Mexican Spanish. No, really, seriously. I've been to all big cities in SEAsia, often and some more than once. Saigon and Hanoi really do take the cake for their 'dynamism' and 'energy'. You think Jakarta is pure mayhem, you ain't seen nothing yet. 😉

One of the best things to Vietnam, for me again HCMC. If you know what to get you can only spend $5 a day. Ban Bao, Banh Mi, etc where all fairly cheap. Every day before class, right before COVID, I'd see the local street vendor to get fried egg, with everything they put on it, in Banh Mi bread, sorry I don't know the Vietnamese name, for 5.000 VND. Made for a cheap start of the day breakfast before my Grade 1 and 3 students. I read an article the other day that Hanoi wants to replace street food vendors with vending machines in some places. That would be tragic.
