Absolutely beautiful piece of music. It took me right back to Meadowbank Stadium in 1989. All these years later I can still remember “When Spirit’s Rise” blasting out then the fantastic bass intro of Street Fighting Years played by Malcolm Foster. Thank you Mick for your ingenuity and sheer brilliance when you were with the band. We miss you more than you will ever know but we have the memories and a fantastic back catalogue of your work. Take it easy and say hello to your brother Robert. I went to Bellarmine School with him back in the day when you were recording Empires & Dance and Sons & Fascination. You and Derek Forbes signed a big stack of Simple Minds vinyl that I left at your mums house in Lunderston Drive. You scribbled “America ‘84” above your signature on an American import of New Gold Dream. I can remember your Gold Disc from Virgin being up on your mums wall. Take care and thanks. 🏴

I’ve listened to Simple Minds for over 4 decades and have come to the conclusion Mick was to Simple Minds, what the Edge is to U2 That good!

Your perception is totally 💯 Charlie and Mel , were also very very talented , but they played around Mick
@stevestephens89698 ай бұрын
Sorry, but you could replace the Edge for sure, but Simple Minds were never able to replace Mick, he was the ' keystone'' of a Musical era the like of which will never be repeated. He is that Good. .

Complimenti a Robert e a Mick. Complimenti davvero!

@@robertaguilera4042 I agree - it's a composition 🌟hard to sum up in words. doesn't follow the typical song / hit formula of a chart band at that time. I'm a SM purist a longtime - in awe now of the early stuff - but I love this tune - and don't shoot me - real life had some great standout moments too. 🙌

Unfortunately Jim and Charlie are too stubborn and pig headed to ask him back and he has said in past interviews he is open to doing something with them again but Jim has yet to contact him. Imagine one last album and too with the classic line up they would make a fortune. If I were Jim and Charlie I would be moving heaven and Earth to make it happen.
