Street Legal Go-Kart? 2005 Mini Cooper S Review!

The day has come! Jordan and I finally planned a day to review his 2005 Mini Cooper S. This thing is such a blast to drive because it literally feels like a Go-Kart! The weather here in Richmond, Virginia was kicking my ass... I was not expecting it to reach 90+ out of no where but, we got it done and over all was a great day! I hope this review helped anyone that was on the "fence" of buying one and I will see you guy in the next one!

A lot of people crap on MINI's until they drive one. You really have to drive one to feel how fast, fun and capable these things are. I drove one 3 years ago and bought it on the spot (R56 Cooper S). Never a dull day since.

Great review! Really shows just what fun you can have with these motors. Back here in the UK I own three Minis. A bog standard 2005 One, a slightly 'warm' 2005 Cooper, and a moderately 'tweaked' 2005 Cooper S. Anyways, keep up the good work

Sweet video man! HUGELY into Minis. I have a base model 2013 Cooper, and I'm selling it to get a 2006 S 🙏🏼 Have quite a bit more fun and go manual instead of automatic. They NEED to be manual.

There's zero turbo lag on an R56 with a tune and a SprintBooster. 260 lbs/ft of torque at ~1,800 rpm. There's a fix for everything. I personally prefer the turbo's. Much easier to extract a lot more power with a tune and bolt ons. With a supercharger, you're pretty much stuck with what you've got without resorting to $$$ mods.

The r56 has a stronger gearbox and is a more reliable package. Plus they're pretty easy to tune to about 215-225bhp with just a remap. I personally prefer the r53 but for a more reliable daily driver got an r58

in my 04 I got 18-22 city mpg and 25-30 highway .. just saying in the gti I'm driving now ,after it was tuned, I'm getting 21-23 city and 32-36 (I've gotten 38 once on a road trip to Florida with cruise control the whole tank)

A 3rd gear pull should have been done between 60-70 btw for best power band 25-32 I get 30-39 with my built stage 2

My 2006 R53 was a little leaky, just had to replace a couple oil gaskets and she was good to go. I've had it for about 4 years now and have driven it cross country a few times with no problems.

A Typical KZbinr Actually I wrote that when I was ready to sell the car. Ended up test driving one and the ride was awful. Significantly worse than mine and mine is one lowering springs

Chad Stuetzel Sad, the ride was probably rough because of the flat tires and of the sportier suspension it comes with out the factory. Or it just was a bad car, you should try different Minis, so you know which ones are the better ones

I also own 3 Minis like Mistermopar, but here in Denver, Co. One 2003 R50 with a Quicksilver exhaust, K&N filter and Kingborne wires... Also a 2003 R53 with Alta intake, Kingborne wires, Alta pulley and my pride an joy: 2006 R53 Checkmate stock... Having a lot of fun with my pocket rockets... Great video!

Oh you can but keep in mind, when I review someone's car I try to be as safe as possible because a wreck is the LAST thing you ever want to do. Obviously, so I play it safe!
