My dad managed to get a street legal title for his 1977 Husqvarna 360CR, back when the DMV didn't really have the resources to look up obscure VINs. Took it down, the dude looked it over, saw something that looked like a headlight, speedo, etc (all not hooked up!) and they got the ball rolling on recovering the "lost" title. Now all he has to do is renew tags. The thing is completely outrageous. It'll dust off anyone's Harley with ease until it runs out of 6th gear.

@@JETZcorp ...I had a Husqvarna CR 500 1983. She had four gears, didn't matter because at eighty mph I could make the front wheel dance up and down with a twist. I've owned a lot of bikes, but that one was my favorite! She was also surprising great in the Maine woods trail riding. I wish I never sold it.

So I live in SoCal. I bought a used 2014 Yz450 that had all the stuff needed to be street legal but was still just a red sticker and off highway. I went to my dmv to have it inspected to get plates. The folks there were clueless on the specific laws for manufacturing a road bike and just gave me a new title that says enduro motorcycle instead of off highway and now I’m plated and good to go. One of the best days of my life

@@Nick-Edwards you just need a horn, brake light, hi/lo beam headlight, and a mirror. Turn signals aren't mandatory, you have arms for that.

I think it has something to do with the sound and feel of the bike let's face it most people do not drag knees and elbows on an MX bike to corner it they have a foot outstretched and push off like they are on a skateboard Lol! Old habits die hard regardless of the terrain. I bet if senior spent the next few years racing these bikes as super motards we would see a different suit and riding technique manifest.

In the 90’s you could buy a road-going CRE500 from Honda Italy. It was an enduro CR500. If I remember Honda Italy had a 'road legal' kit made. Had a lighting coil, lights, handlebar switches, a stand and a subframe for the rear mudguard so you could hang all the lights and mudguard. You could also buy the kits on their own. I bought one, in about 93and had it shipped to me in the UK. I fitted the kit, made it into a supermoto and road registered it. Used to do the occasional supermoto race, but mainly used it on the road. In 2000 a friend put the engine into a CR250 beam frame for me. I’ve still got it. It’s still road registered but I haven’t used it in years. It spat me off on a cold rear tyre one day and I broke my ankle. I’ll probably never sell that bike! ❤️

My uncle did this with his KX500 around the year 2003. He loved it and would ride it around everywhere. My dad raced motocross around here and rode pretty much his whole life. That KX was the only bike I’ve ever seen get squirrelly on him LOL RIP to my awesome uncle

i hava a 95 cr500 streetlegal here in holland. when i go tru town with the beast people hate the noise. a few who know what a cr500 is love it and i get a thumbs up. kids will start to cry when i pass them about the noise the beast make. so its always a happening when i get it tru town. love it.

The 500 I put in a 1997 250 frame was a dual purpose for the road. Reason being I live right on top of Salisbury plain. Was easy to roll her out fire her up, then gone with the wind in a plume of sweet smelling castrol r. Why I ever sold it who knows. Wish I could send a few photos to you to have a look at. 👍👍👍

I own 3 kx 500's. A parts bike, an AF conversion, and a street legal one. License plate "KX 5." This is a man after my own heart.... Seems like Honda and aftermarket are making it easier to own a CR 500 "forever?" Kawi parts getting hard to find 😥. Any suggestions for KX 500 parts/ support other than ebay? Ya, as much fun as they are on the dirt, the pavement is just as fun. ...your wheelies are much better than mine, tho. Thanks for the video.

Caught a couple fix it tickets with "no battery" tail lighting on 'plated' CR's and XR's. Baja Designs wire harness kits makes it so easy. Totally worth the $$.

I'd stick with the RZ motor! With a set of chambers it's in the ballpark for power. And with all the Banshee aftermarket stuff you can take R6s to school with a built RZ!
