Big Chief of The Discovery Channels show Street Outlaws unveils his new race car. It's a '68 Firebird in full Pro Mod trim named the "Crow Mod." This all-out race car replaces Big Chief’s 1972 Pontiac LeMans, known as “The Crow,” which he wrecked during filming of the show Nov. 14.

"but it's not a street car" Neither is Shocker or Jon Doe or those 4000hp pro-mods they had to race in their full back half cars. There's NO RULES ON THE STREET. People that can afford to go the pro mod route these days do, so I don't blame Chief now he can afford to go that route. If you want to be the best you have to be able to compete with the best and there's a lot of pro mods out there on the street already that i don't hear too many complaints about. The Crow is coming to fuck some shit up and I for one can not wait to see it!! Where you at Kye Kelley!! LOL.

Look at Drag Week - there's been a few pro-mod/composite bodied full tube chassis cars in the unlimited class for the last few years and they all prove themselves to be just about streetable so certainly fit in the category of "street raced cars". I think I heard Monza saying it best - "This is run what you brung and you better hope you brought enough.."

Larry Larson's S10 drove over 1000 miles and clicked off a 5.95 1/4 mile ET at HotRod Dragweek.He pulls a trailer with the slicks and some carbon fiber parts he swaps out when he gets to the track.Larson drives his to the track to racetrack,the other dudes trailer theirs to the street race.

I have to say, I love this show. The first time I saw it I thought, no big deal. The second time got me hooked. I just can't understand how they can really race on a public street. All the lights, all the people, the trucks and trailers all the noise. This must be somehow city approved ??? How can they possibly film a whole show ? After one pass from these incredibly loud cars, the cops would be called.

As crazy as it sounds, cars similar to what the Chief is building ran on the streets for big money back in the early 1960's. I recall one evening a "dragster and a gasser" lined up on Sunrise Highway, Valley Stream?? NY. These two may have been the original "Street Outlaws". And yes...back then they would go for $500-$1000. Enough to pay for 1-2 years college tuition back then.

Many years ago we had a 9 sec/140 mph 1/4 mile N/A full steel, full stock interior VW Bug that we drove daily on the street. We use to race at many of the street races around Los Angeles and Orange County California. It is simple people, race what is in your class! We refused to race any trailed cars. Running a honest 9 seconds in the 1/4 mile on the street back in those days was not heard of, so they tried to bring race cars to beat us, but no one ever did because we only raced in our class. We raced all the street legal cars that were driven there! No losses! Several tried to trick us but what they could not do was drive there cars from the meeting location to the race area. Some were solid blocks without water too. Hardly a fair race against a little street driven VW Bug who drove at least 20+ miles to the meeting locations and then another 5-10 miles to the race locations. Not to mention we drove it to work all week long. Come home on Friday night throw some new plugs in it and go race all weekend! Chief has a choice, as we all do. For you arm chair racers who claim he is making huge money from the show etc, you are wrong. When he crashed he explained he had no insurance and didn't get his bills paid by the show or sponsors etc.! Seems to be many jealous people out here making up bs stories! Kye Kelley has a PRO MOD car but not no one is saying anything about that. For Chief's old car "The Crow" to be that close to beating Kye Kelly was unbelievable. The Crow weighted about 1000 lbs more than Kye Kelley's car. For you people who want to watch a show with only street driven cars there is a new show for you to watch where they all are daily driven cars racing each other. Go watch it and stop bitching about this great show that you are so jealous of! You will NOT be missed the show will grow to something much bigger than it is now without you people complaining! Chief we ALL look forward to you getting your money back from Kye Kelly! Get him! Good luck buddy! Best of luck in your recovery man!

the show isn't called daily driver outlaws. it's called street outlaws. what they drive is irrelevant as long as they are racing in the street. people don't seem to realize that. The crow was about as fast as you can get a street car. And after wrecking it building a pro mod just makes sense. the shocker is looking equally badass lately.

Just curious, but what type of air do you use in the shoes? Hope it's not straight air. Expands with heat. Try a noble gas that expands less under stress. It gets off better the first 60.

Guys y'all have the idea of Street racing confused. It has little to do with the cars the term "street" refers to the road. The roads they're racing on are UNPREPED PUBLIC ROADS. Tony Schumacher can bring his Top fuel car on the show but as long as the race is on a unpreped public road he's technically street racing. Oh and let's not forget its a show its entertainment so allowed yourself to be entertained.

Boxer Bikes This might sound a little crazy to you, but I'm a fan of Varley with the Gold Car. He reminds me of my late Father. My Father also had a trunk Mustang. Varley seems like the kind of guy who doesn't back down, even to the younger guys on the show. I like it when he stands up for himself, just like my Father would. Don't think for a minute that Discovery channel didn't pay the majority if not all for the new car. One tiny example is on Gold Rush, every 'poor' miner is driving a big brand new Raptor or other expensive pickup truck. Discovery pays for almost everything on a #1 hit show.

Let it be known that these guys are NOT your typical "working class" kind of people......they're in show business now and that leaves the rest of us just watching and wishing. Nothing against them......they were in the right place at the right time and it makes for great entertainment for the rest of us poor slobs who drag home every night after a day in the salt mine with two dollars in our pockets. Really like the new car.....the Kansas City boys really put a scare in them with their pro-mods so they knew they had to step it up! The only thing common with street racing is that they still try and race on a street.....has nothing to do with "street legal cars". Enjoy the show!!

This will be the beginning of the the end for the show. I enjoyed the fact that the 405 with their steel bodied cars could compete with Pro Mod cars. After the Crow Mod beats up badly on all it faces, who is going to show up at "cash days" to donate to a Pro Mod racer ?.....Gypsy Mike must feel like a dinosaur with his naturally aspirated car.

Actually kind of disappointed. Agreed this is a sharp car and I know these are not street cars but drag cars on the streets but I think alot of the appeal is that they still appeared to have stock bodies. Even Kye's so called Pro Mod Camaro still have a basically stock 3rd gen body. Dave's new Goliath Chevy II is still basically a stock body. I think if others racers go in this direction the appeal of the show will be lost. It will be interesting to see what Murder Nova does next. Chief, Dave, Boosted, the Cutty are all new cars. You know the Nova wont be far behind and since he and Chief are partners I am guessing he will also go the Pro Mod route.

just don't call them street cars that's all, if they were street legal they would drive them to the track and back home. have tags, turn signals,head lights and so on. Just because you can drive down a road does not mean its a street car. John Force can trailer his car down there and drive on a street.

+angela customer one of the biggest reasons they dont drive them is that these kind of cars have a hard time surviving a normal drive without over heating or someother issue if you have watched dragweek a lot of the cars in the unlimited class are knocked out because they cant survive the driv ut they still street legal, also mot of the cars i have seen on the show have headlights

People act like this is something new..People where racing full on tube chassis promod style race cars on the streets 10-15 years ago back before I got out of racing and they'll do it now.The only difference was they could drive them up on the trailer like a bat out of hell and roll out when the cops came and these guys cant ;) I do hope he adds a few lights to keep the whiners quiet though.
