I enjoyed the photo walk Liam. Kudos for being candid on what worked/ didn't work for you! Cool video of a very grey London!

Cheers mate! Thanks for watching. If I just showed what I thought was good it’d be a very short video haha

You have springs with no rain? Outrageous! I always love seeing vids of people doing my usual Oxford street walk, it doesn’t matter who does it, the images always look a bit different. You went a bit further down than I do too. That shot of the hands you spoke about is interesting. I often tell people who don’t shoot street that you would be surprised how often something would turn up to complete the frame. I don’t mean it’s a lot but it’s greater than “never” and that’s good enough. The challenge on Oxford street is that it’s very busy, even if it does happen you rarely get the chance to get it in a frame perfectly without people being in the way. I find if you can see ahead, you can position yourself a little to help “direct the flow”. I missed on today for the same reason - occasionally a bus goes by with the advert of someone on their phone - any there were people looking similarly on their phone but at just the right moment someone else walked into the shot 🤷🏻♂️ next time! Did the number of “American candy” style shops stand out to you? Bit of a controversy here at the moment.

Well not no rain. More like a short shower in the afternoon. Occasionally it will monsoon for a while. Although this June has been drier and hotter than usual. But after it rains, if the sun comes out the ground is usually dry within minutes. Colorado is a high dessert so the air is dry. Yeah Oxford street is chaotic. I think that is part of the charm though. There’s lots of chances to get something good but it’s still hard.

Hey Liam...love your work....I know u haven't done a direct comparison video with fuji 23 vs Voigtlander 21...but in the video the you used both I'm not sure if I'm convincing myself the Voigtlander images have more of that " "! ......not sure if its that u adjusted your shooting differently for each lens....what is your thought on IQ between the two?
@TheLiamGordon2 жыл бұрын
Thanks Tkae! The Fuji lens in this video was actually the 35 1.4 so it was a bit different. I’ve never actually used a 23 except on a friends camera. That being said. I think the difference you see is mostly in the quality of the light. The skies were clearing and the sun was pretty low when I was using the 21. There’s probably some flare or color shift in the voigtlander than you might not get as much with the Fuji but in general a Fuji 23 is probably more practical. My friend Dante almost only uses a 23 and his work is wild. I enjoy the voigtlander lens and although it’s sharp on the fuji it is very flawed. IQ seems great on bright days but for some reason dull weather causes me to have to underexpose more and brighten in post. It’s hard to put my finger on the actual issue.

Nice one Liam. I agree with you. You shouldn't follow someone else's style in general. You should be doing your own thing. I like the red umbrella shot indeed. I am shooting more like this style. But I enjoyed your more dynamic shots too! Keep it up!

Thanks Aris! I think there can be some value in replicating someone’s style in order to learn but it has to be done with the intention of developing your own vision in the long term. Thanks for watching ✌️✌️

Nice video mate but definitely the message here is to be true to yourself. The first half had some nice shots included but they felt like a disconnect from what I associate with your work. It's not a bad thing to try new things but it was surprising how much they didn't feel like your work. Nice images as always Liam.

Cheers Lee! It’s the sort of thing I was interested in when I first got started but as obsessed with Saul Leiter & Josh Jack as I was, the style never really clicked. I don’t know why I slipped back into thinking it would for a minute 🤷♂️ thanks for watching, Lee 🙏

@@pool12390 yeah it looks pretty great. Especially shooting things wide open. At f8 I don’t know if I could tell the difference between that and the 35f2 though.

Still got some interestin shots. We're our own worst critic sometimes. A lot to see out there in London.

Definitely our own worst critics. I think there’s some value in that. We probably wouldn’t learn if we thought everything we shot was gold :) Yeah, London is wild! Thanks for watching mate!
