I remember '97 growing up near the SFV. LS1's were brand new technology, you could still get 92 octane for under a buck and a half, dial up internet was the big thing, most people did not have cell phones yet, having a 13 second street car made you untouchable for the most part... I honestly miss the days when guys from my generation would go out and do stuff rather text and update their wall on Facebook.I know this sounds hypocritical, but, I would give up the technology we have to have those...

I started Driving in 1996 on my own, 1995 with a parent. July 15, 1996 I filled my truck up first time in Ballwin Missouri for 88 cents. Unbelievable to think today. 5.0s and SS camaros, firebirds ruled the streets and muscle cars. "Ricers" were just getting started. And for awhile especially afterThe Fast and Furious in 2001, ricers began and dominated the old muscle car way, of spray and pray. But the last 5-6 years if you are still in the scene street/strip, you can see this technology, tunes, chips, computers, TURBOS being turned back towards the old V8 cars. Mustangs, Camaros, Chargers etc. IRS is almost common place, the rides are amazing. And the power and speed they are putting down/ plus handling is blowing a lot of 4 cylinders out of the water again. 10psi on a 4 banger, is still lagging on 10psi on a V8. And the increase is exponential with the bigger motors and PSI increase. Its neat to see the full circle that being ran, where will it end..,Who cares as long as we keep going faster!

i remember those days. i got my lisence in early 2000 and by end of summer had a low 13/high 12 sec car and i never lost a race with it (still have the car). if i wanted to hang with my freinds or even talk to them, i just went to their house. i didn't even get a computer until dec 01. it was alot better. there were more kids playing outside in the summer back then, now teens hardly leave the house. most teens don't even want cars cause they don't see the need. they just use computers or text..

I'd have to say street racing modified cars are pretty much dead. Well here in Canada it is anyway it use to be extremely popular but in the last 15years insurance has seriously increased a stock 4 door Civic is over 310$ a month :/ Modifie it you will struggle to get insurance and if you do it's so high it's not worth it, and no one wants to street race a stock 100hp car.
