AAAAaaa! Those BEAUTIFUL blue & yellow engines! Gotta ring my cowbell for this one! This was a GOOD long train overall! I'm binge watching your videos! Watching videos from Speaker Police brought me to your channel & that's how I discovered you! Then added your channel. Thanks for sharing!

I wondered if they were Coke cars, but they appear to be coal. The Coke is much coarser, and apparently lighter, the cars used to transport it are higher, like the cars seen, but an extension is added to the top. I worked over 20 years at the Coke plant nearby, I've been in Elizabeth often in my life, I had no idea those tracks were there. The closest ones on the street I knew of is in Brownsville PA. Learn something new everyday. Great video, I'll be looking to see if they're still active, I'll take the grandkids there one day soon, and we'll wait for a train too. Thanks much for the great work.

WOW! good for your video capture. Did you notice not one car had a flat spotted wheel! Out west here its easy to get a train with many defective (?) wheels pounding away. Congrates CSX!

Thanks. It's fun to see good old southwestern PA. I am originally from California and Coal Center, PA. I lived a block from the tracks. Sometimes 30 coal trains a day all hours. They would get the house shaking pretty good.

Nice catch Brian, those locomotives had their work cut out on that train, I know them locos had approx 9,000 HP running the traction motors but that was still a lot of loaded coal cars. GO CSX 👍👍👍😎😎😎 Cary

Would love to know the concept of street running, railroads were there 1st before towns or this was their only ridaway available. Many of the old interurbans and street car companies used street running, not as many as there use to be . Need to do a study on why street running came to be . It looks so cool, great video ! On the return trip, visit West Brownsville, PA (just south of I-70). The NS Mon Line street runs for about 3,000 feet. At Amity St crossing in Homestead, you have a choice of the 2-track NS Mon Line or 1-track CSX Pittsburgh Sub.

Train is actually running down hill. Its heading for McKeesport, which is north, toward Pittsburgh. The Monongahela River, which is to the conductors left, is flowing in the same direction. Thus, not a hard pull. Probably do a power switch out in Riverton.

Lol. I was raised in a house about a mile up the tracks in the direction that train is traveling. I freaking hated trains, but that's cause my house was literally like 5 feet from the nearest rail. Trains on this track are rediculously loud, and they don't understand the concept of a whistle, they rather lay into the damn thing for like 30 seconds or more.

CSX(just 3 letters painted on the sides) sounds so impersonal...I remember when the engines had a brighter color scheme w/the profile of a cat(Chessie System) on them. I get it - it is a business, after all....but a brighter paint job would probably make the Internet generation look up from their devices for about a minute: "Oh wow - a train! Maybe I better get off the tracks." Then they can go back to catching #Pokemon or whatever the newest craze is. An hour plus wait for a train? Wish I had that kinda time :)
@JawTooth5 жыл бұрын
An hour wait is nothing. I waited 2 days for a train at Natural Tunnel Virginia and none went by in daylight. Only 2 went through and it was dark. Worst railfan trip ever. I got back last night.

As a joke, in this town and others where train tracks go down streets, put up signs. These signs are going to be at every intersection. Either a stop sign, or a traffic light for all directions. The sign reads " All traffic must either stop at stop signs, and/or obey traffic signals, including Trains!" Remember, these trains are trained to go down the middle of the street!
